I came across a neat 5.0 liter GT today while walking around the Cotswolds in the UK 🇬🇧. It is my understanding from my UK friend that these are not that common here.

Enjoy.

Nice find in the UK @Tomster!

I will say though, those Euro door mirrors are just atrocious… way too big.

Yes, I tried to take note of all the differences. Of interest as well were the clear tail lights. I think that was a nice look. I dont know what to make of the red stripe on the wheels though..... some kind of curb rash protection?

I hope you're enjoying your stay, Tomster!

Since 2015, there have been just over 10,000 S550s sold in the UK and 85% of them are V8s, so they are rare, but obviously not as rare as the models that came before it, as they had to be imported personally.

You are correct in the that the "redline" is a wheel rim protector.

:)

Thanks Paul. Yes, its always good to be back in the UK. Ill keep a sharp eye for more mustangs throughout my travels.

We used to frequent the UK before covid, coming at least 4-5 times a year. We are traveling with friends from the Chippenham area and we are off to Cardiff today. We will make our way back towards London for the remembrance weekend celebration. We missed it last year due to Covid.

Anyway, if I run into any more mustangs, I will surely post them here.

Yes, as Twin Turbo says they are quite rare - actually driving on the road I might get see one other car a week. Within my home and work areas I know where five park up either at homes or at places of work (although I think one has either sold up or moved jobs recently).

Exterior wise they are similar, other than the lights and mirrors already noted and the non illuminated orange rear side marker - also the ugly rear GT badge, but you guys get the same style on some special editions.

Inside other than the obvious, we are without the PP1 gauges (but we are mostly PP1 spec).

You probably realise just how big these cars are for the U.K. now - that one’s filling a disabled slot and it’s arse is hanging out of the rear lol.

Enjoy the U.K. !

Not as atrocious as that stupid warning, "the objects in the mirror are closer than they appear", which plagues the US mirrors. At least the extra mirror surface we're getting in Europe is useful, which can't be said about that awfully patronizing notice that keeps reminding you every day what a mouth-breathing simpleton Ford thinks you are.

I did look into having US mirrors adapted to my Euro-spec Mustang, but when I realized that I'd have to live with that hideous scar on the mirrors I gave up. I'd rather have my Dumbo ears, thank you. At least they're clean, and they don't tell me I'm stupid every time I look at them.

I have a FP non-badged finish panel that I planned to use for another project. Let me know if you are interested. I believe my friends from the UK will be visiting us soon enough and maybe they can bring it back with them if/when they visit. I think the gates open on Nov 8th?

Anyway, seeing that car yesterday was definitely a highlight of the day.

That’s a great offer thanks ! But I have a new old stock FP panel (the completely flat one) that I’ve just not go around to fitting yet … :like:

Yeah the gates open soon - we had been watching closely as ideally we would have liked to get out there (FL) at the end of the month. It should have been a bit of a recce as we would like to get married over there (Epcot) next year :sunglasses:

There was actually a meet at Kemble airfield (yes, the little 'ol Cotswolds has an airfield!) so you weren't far from about 15 other Mustangs on Saturday :)

I was there on Saturday. I must have just missed it.

Its a shame I didn't know about that.

Here is a photo of another BA aircraft the same day at the same airfield.

And today I stopped by a ford dealership to pick up some europe swag for my friends at my dealership back home.

Unfortunately, the parts department was closed off and they had no trinkets or anything to sell.....

They did have a Mach E on the lot. A grabbed a few quick photos.

As Paul said, they're rim protectors. RimSavers / AlloyGators are the big companies that make them. I wish I'd sprung for them, and had a set of them installed a couple weeks ago... 😥

Anyway, they either stick on (RimSavers) or set around the rim, under the lip of the tire. (AlloyGators) Both have their horror stories, as with all things—though it seems the AlloyGators fare better when installed properly.

To wrap it all up. Remembrance weekend in the UK was a great time to come and reflect on the sacrifices that so many have made.

We are flying home now and now I look to ready the CFTP for a weekend at Daytona (which is just around the corner).

Overall, a great time. I was able to see a part of the UK that I dont frequent enough. The people and the places were exceptional and good times were had.

Now I highlight some of the things I saw in the final stages of my trip, London, the remembrance and some cool cars out and about. Not many mustangs, I can't imagine the attention a CFTP would get on the streets of Mayfair.

Some remembrance photos:

The following two were taken at Westminsterster abbey

Of course, the Cenotaph

And of course the drinks thereafter

And what really drove home was the individual crosses that had the photos of each servicemen lost in all the conflicts raning from. WWI to today.
