I've narrowed my SC choices down to the VMP stage 2 with an 82mm pulley or the Paxton 2200sl beefcake stage 2 kit. my car is bone stock except for h-pipe and Borla s types, it's an auto car with standard 3.15 gearing, car will likely never see the track, but will be pushed hard from time to time. I spoke to one of Lund's tuners and he says I'd be happier with the VMP, what is everyone's thoughts?

Thanks!!!

paxton. the little blower that could. lots and lots of cars around here making over 700 on paxton kits pretty easily.
thanks for the input, curious to hear how the low end to mid range torque feels with the Paxton, another concern of mine is the constant bov noise becoming tiring

Honestly, if you're not going to the track and this is going to be mainly a street car. Most of our customers have been happier with the VMP kit. That low end power makes for a more fun time, either will make you happy though. I would personally go with the VMP.

our custom package is hard to beat for the $$, you can add alot of extra mods with the $$ you save.

i love the power delivery of the centri, tame when you want tame, and all you want when you want it

i can put my wife in my 1150 rwhp daily driver and send her down the street in it and not worry

hit me up with any questions, as we do offer both kit

really comes down to driving style, the blower is designed differently.

if you want to go 1/2 throttle from light to light quicker, then a vmp or whipple would do that better

if you want the car to drive like stock under normal driving, then a paxton / procharger / vortech would do that better

at wot, there is no "down low", not if you plan on winning a race.

in an auto when you go wot, cars will go right to 6k or so, if your in a manual, no matter what blower, if your not downshifting, you already lost.

really comes down to driving style.

i like the centri, personally, because that initial hit is just a tad softer and gives you a better chance for traction

i can wot my mid 8 second dd with the vortech, and hook up on any warm day

Centri cars are honestly a ton of fun. The top end pull of a coyote mixed with the boost delivery of a centrifugal is far from lazy. There really is no wrong way to boost your vehicle. They seem to both make similar numbers. Also if the OP goes with the BV-57 package like I purchased from Beef he won’t have the annoyances of the typical race bov.

I would suggest finding someone with each and getting a ride.

My centri car makes 500+ft/lb of tq to the wheels from 4K+ and only goes up from there, peaks at 622 around 6.5k, very little drop off after that.

A comparable Whippple car makes ~520 ft/lb of tq and stays in a relatively flat curve peaking around 5K @ ~580 until it tapers off around 6500.

I 100% prefer the power delivery of the centri. As many have said, you can choose how much you want with your right foot. With the money saved by going Paxton you could purchase other supporting mods that will only increase your smiles per mile (like headers).

My centri car (paxton) makes 520 ft/lb and 670 WHP.

I have no other mods besides a catback.

Best bang for your buck IMO

smann and higdominator you guys are making the Paxton look good, the Paxton is sexier for sure, I'm concerned with having a lazy feeling auto car until it's screaming, but that seems to not be the case going by what you're saying, I totally appreciate the input guys.

Are you saying an 850whp Whipple car only makes low 500's for torque?

Honestly and as someone else said. I'd get a ride in both. The power delivery is completely different. A PD car that makes 10psi will make it as soon as you floor it(actually sooner) until red line. A centri car that makes 10psi will build boost until you see 10psi at redline.

TVS blowers are actually known to be the kings of TQ which for me is what makes for fun on the street. An equivalent and properly set up centri car will likely be faster at the track.

No right or wrong here......I've owned 700whp plus centri cars, and they were fun. Actually just got back from the Callaway plant and was able to get some seat in a Callaway Z06. Which is same basic Eaton 2300 blower that is in the TVS kits. Let me tell ya that thing is a monster right off idle!

So much fun in fact that my father in law just booked his car to go in Friday for the conversion! :eyebulge:

As for me I am pulling the trigger on a Whipple kit in the next couple weeks, but boy that Callaway has me on the TVS website right now!
