When I bought my Edge I couldn't bring myself to buy a 4 banger so I looked at the NA V6. Turns out it produces less horsepower and torque than the ecoboost 4. So I got a Sport version which has the twin turbo V6. I don't know what I was thinking, it has way more power than I'll ever need and because it's a lower production option it's hard to find good info for do it yourself jobs. And it's rather crowded under the hood so even the simple stuff is a bit of a challenge. In hind sight I should have got the 4 banger, I hear good things about that engine.

The full story includes not offering premium options with the S550 V6. There was never a level playing field on which to judge sales.

But it is what it is. No turning back now. The Ecoboost seems OK, until you hear it. :)

Sounds like the fastest Hoover on the block.

The stigma around a V6 Mustang has always been brash, but once the 3.7 came into play it made it a respectable car. Agreed it got shunned from decent options. I’m sure some of the HPP EB crowd would’ve been happy with a high revving NA V6 Mustang that can turn and stop, too.

Because they wanted to steer customers to the Ecoboost. It gets better gas mileage so they wanted those sales.

Guessing because Ford didn’t plan on carrying the 3.7 to model year 18+ it wasn’t worth the additional tweaking and testing to have them on a an outgoing V6 model.

The turbo i4 does get better mileage but feeds on premium gas so the savings are pretty much a wash.
I think some buyers will go to MOPAR or Chevy in USA cars or go to Infinity for import because they want the V6

No argument here. My bro has a 2017 V6 and he loves it. He never would have bought an EB car

That's the downside of everyone putting turbo 4's and 6's in everything. Sure you'll get better fuel economy, but you'll pay more at the pump if you want all 310hp/330hp.

I wish Ford would've brought the Australian straight 6's here in place of the 3.7. Suits the Mustang more since it did originally launch with a 200ci I6. Nothing against the 3.7, just not my cup of tea.

Because the V6 model was designed from the get go to be a rental car. Ford really didn't care about enthusiast buyers. Ford wanted them to buy either the I4 or the V8. They even reduced the number of options on the 16'-17' to push folks to the other cars. There was no mistake. Everything Ford did had a reason and when all is said and done the S550 was a very successful endeavor.

The 3.7 V6 is a very good motor. I'd take it over the I4 any day.
If there would have been a V8 Premium model in 15' I would have bought it.

Only if they want an ocean liner or a car they cannot see out of. :giggle: As far as Infiniti, I traded my V6 G37x for my 15' EB. The Infiniti V6 was sweet but overall not match for my Mustang. Besides todays Q50 costs more than a GT.
