Hi all,

I was on the verge of buying a Camaro 1LE but decided I had to test drive the GT350 first. Very glad I did as it enjoyed the experience more than the Camaro. I'm pretty sold on the idea of owning one and see that prices are coming down to a more affordable level, sub 50k.

I have a line on 2016 GT350 with track pack, all stock. The dealer is asking 44500 with 8k miles. The pictures, video, and interior all look fantastic. The price seems almost too good to be true. Is that in the ballpark for a 2016?

The cheapest local 2017 I found that I liked is going for 53,500 and they won't budge. It does have the electronics package vs the 2016 but similar mileage.

Is it correct to assume that the 5-year 60k powertrain warranty would cover any issues with the motor and any oil consumption problems I've been reading about? Any advice you can give a future owner?

Thank you!

I'd say that's a good price. It does seem that 2016's tend to go for noticeably less on the used market. I suspect that the 2016 year reputation was marred by the tech package cars overheating, and buyers who are less informed simply avoid the 2016's in general without understanding which 2016 versions there were and which had the coolers.

Yes. The warranty goes with the car so it will still cover you.

I just bought my 2017 GT350 w/ electronics package with 3000 miles for right over $50k, so I think the price you're seeing there is either in-line or better-than-average, assuming the car is in overall good shape.

If you don't mind an adventure, look outside of your local area and drive it back. Also, don't discount Carvana as they have a few GT350s on there at pretty good prices. That's who I bought mine through and so far everything was up to snuff and has met expectations. They'll deliver to your front door for about $400 and then you have 7 days to try the car out and can return it without question if you don't like it or something pops up you weren't expecting.
Congratulations on your purchase. I have checked carvana but didn't see the color or combo that strikes me. Also, CarMax has quite a few and they are decently priced. The dealers in socal think they are made partly of gold or something. I could see how the Rs will fetch a premium but the non-Rs should be more in line with the deal you got.

Careful on picking up low mi used gt350. Could’ve had oil consumption issues, engine replacement, etc

How can you tell if the vehicle has had an engine replacement? I'm currently looking at purchasing a used 2018 GT350R with just 780 miles on it. I'm curious if it really hasn't been driven much or if it has a new engine.

With the VIN a dealer can run a report on it to see if it has had a new engine - but unlikely at that low miles unless a catastrophic failure. Replacement engine would probably lack the GT350 serial number on it also.

Low miles definitely means it didn't get driven much and it's possible there were problems. I wouldn't be too afraid of buying a GT350 that has a warranty. From what I've seen Ford does a good job taking care of issues and they won't hesitate to replace any component that has a problem.

Make sure it wasn't a buy back for burning oil or some other ailment. There's a ton of those out there.

Prices have been coming down. I have been looking to a 2017 for most of this year. Prices just starting to come below 50k. I was able to pull the trigger last night on a 2017 with Electronics package for $46,400, only 9000 miles.Cheapest one I have seen, with a Clean Carfax, not a buyback.

Thanks for all the replies! As a future buyer I'm glad the prices are falling. I'm hoping to pick something up for less than 50k. My goal is a 17 with Electronics pack that doesn't burn oil :)

I would say that the statement "there are a ton of these (buy backs) out there" is a big time exaggeration. We are seeing SOME of them, but as a former Z06 owner, no more than you'd see with a lot of other major brands IMO.
