You're right all dealers should prep the cars to the same perfect standard but it amazes me how many dealers still ruin the paint work. The detailer I use routinely posts bad dealer prep pics on their Facebook page and some of it is shocking
Maybe I'm being judgemental with Ford as this is the first time I've bought a new car from them. I have less confiedence than I would from BMW or Mercedes etc simply due to the value of the cars they sell week in week out.
BM and Merc garages use the same sponge/young lad cleaning methods as well. These are still high volume company-car /PCP (mainly) mongers. Not sure how far up-market you have to go before the dealer routinely has the cars prepared by a specialist.
I recall someone on here (Gibbo's?) mentioned that their Ford dealer actually sent the car to a professional detailer rather than get their own gritty sponge out.
