    UPDATED: SOLD FOR $1.1MM!

I'm not sure if this is new info, so mods, feel free to remove if it's known.

    From the article:
"The buyer of the first new Shelby GT500 will be able to choose from all of the available colors and options. However, deliveries won't begin until fall 2019."

How much do you think it will go for?

    I am guessing $1.2 million.

The 350 did a million, so I’m thinking you’re pretty close.

Should be a fun day for sure. I will have to tune in to see the bidding action. Thanks to op for letting us know about the auction. Great to hear of an official indication of the GT500 being auctioned on Jan 18.

It will look much better when it is revealed and may look better then a GT350.

However, as of 2018 I think the GT350/GT350R cars are the best looking mustangs since 1970.

Curious how people are so sure a GT350R looks better than a car that hasn't been released yet?

Good point. I think SVTSNAKE355 is basing that on the very blurry/bad angle leaked picture of the 2020 GT500.

The car will look a lot better when revealed. May not be as good looking as the GT350R, but then again, it may be better.

If you mean the front end of the 2020 GT500, then no. We have not seen a picture of the front end (straight on) Picture below is in camo and not straight on.

That's the photo I was thinking of. It isn't terrible, but AFAI can tell the GT350 is better looking. Who knows, maybe I'll end up changing my mind. Some of the latest aero adaptations don't look good to me, though.

And seriously, are aesthetics that important in a car like this? Doesn't function trump form? Does anyone think a new Porsche GT2 RS isn't butt ugly?? My dream car is one that (IMO) combines great performance with amazing good looks:

The only people that buy Lambos are those who can't drive. A car that has great performance and styling is the Porsche GT3.

That’s not accurate. People who can drive well simply want a car that looks amazing but while tearing up the road. The Porsche is capable and not ugly, but it looks like trash in comparison to the Lamborghini.

And the aventador svj whoops the gt3 in performance.

So if we are actually talking facts, Lamborghini buyers are simply those who want the faster and better looking car.

I prefer to listen to respected car journalists, the GT3 is far better car, not just for the airheads who only care about drag races:

"According to Harris, the last Lamborghini that didn't have any problems was the Gallardo. The Aventador, although the best looking supercar, is "not very good to drive" and suffers from build quality issues like "combustible" brakes and inconsistent handling from example to example.

The newest supercar from Sant Agata is even worse, says the renowned journalist. Because it was built for wealthy Chinese customers who apparently can't drive, it was designed with a heavy bias towards understeer.

"Lamborghini is now the purveyor of understeer," Chris Harris wrote.

"[Lamborghini] has become the purveyor of jewelry. Its cars exist to be seen and heard; not driven. Style has superseded substance. Their natural habitat has now been reduced to revving when stationary on the King's Road in London – not Imola or the Futa pass or Valentino Balbone scorching the back- pistas of Modena, but with some mindless billionaire's offspring pushing the right pedal to get himself seen on some equally mindless YouTube channel."
