Hey all, I've got a '17 6M non-PP GT. I've got a 3" MBRP street cat-back on there, and am looking to get a JLT CAI and tune for now. Most likely long-tubes at some point before I put it away for winter as well. With just the cat-back and CAI, and long-tubes soonish, which way should I go for the tune? I know this is a loaded question with varying opinions, but with so many options for our cars I'm looking for a bit of direction. SCT X4 with a BAMA tune? Ngauge with a Lund tune? SCT with the regular canned tuned? SCT with VMP? Ngauge with AED? What really represents the best value? I'm so overwhelmed with the sheer number of options.....

Lund or AED, ngauge or SCT X4 either one.

I've been Lund Tuned for over 2 years and Flex Fuel tuned since they offered it, simply awesome!

I dealt with Sean at AED on a previous car and he was great.

2 best choices in my opinion, can't go wrong either way!

ngauge is hard to beat. You will most likely have good results from any of big tuners. I went with a Rob Shoemaker HP Tuner ngauge. Very pleased with Rob's tune! His customer service is outstanding and his tunes are top-notch!

Livernois has a sweet tune and their customer service has been great since I've been working with them.

I personally may go with Lund + Ngauge for the flex fuel read on the % ethanol content. Nice having a gauge to watch that. I probably won't tune my car for a bit though till I get some miles on the engine once my car gets here.

Anybody willing to provide more feedback on the Livernois tune/cai bundles? They seem to be advertising the most ambitious numbers but their tuning device itself looks so.....how do I put this, antiquated?

You can check some of the threads we've discussed this. I've done extensive research on this and do not recommend it, but that's just my opinion.

I have a Lund nGague (haven't listed it yet) and airaid intake (listed, and I think you asked me about it) for sale, you could buy both and pay lund for a tune and save some cash if you want.

I've been running the Livernois tune and Severe Windstorm bundle for almost a year now and its been great. When I first got everything installed I really could tell the difference especially in throttle control which mine being a stick felt weird stock. I'm sure due to throttle by wire.. Anyhow I've stayed in touch with Ethan there and he has told me that they have been continually testing and tuning more 5.0 cars and updating the tunes based on what they have learned. I've had 2 regular tune updates so far plus an E85 tune added as well. I can say for sure I've noticed an improvement each time and they where all free so if you want to add more parts as you go free tune updates are a big plus.. The tuner itself does look dated but once I load the tunes it goes in the glove box so I don't car what it looks like in there..lol, the results are what matter to me and so far they have been great!. :headbang:

I went ahead and bought 18psi's intake and nGauge for a great price (thanks brother), and have ordered a tune from Lund. 93 for now, flex fuel in a few weeks after I get long-tubes. The excitement is real!

I am looking for a cold air intake and tune for my 2017 Mustang GT PP. I have already installed the Roush axle backs and x pipe. Should I go with the Roush setup or Ford Performance PP2? Which one will give me most power/torque?

There's basically 2 sides to that coin.
Side 1: those options are going to offer modest gains in performance compared to the tune/intake combos offered by tuning houses like Lund Racing or Livernois Motorsports/ JLT or Air Aid (let's be real, the Livernois severe weather intake is a rebadged Air Aid) through great vendors like Beefcake or Lethal Performance.

Side 2: as long as you have them installed by a Ford dealer, you get to keep your vehicle warranty.

If you really wanna keep your warranty, Ford PP 2 doesn't seem so bad. 40 ft/lbs of torque at 1500 rpm? Sounds like a pretty good wake up call for an engine that's known not to get wound up until quite a bit later in the rpm band.

Now let's throw a couple wrenches into things.

1. There's no flexibility. If you ever decide to hell with this whole warranty gray area thing, I want headers or I want E85 or I want cams, well, you're gonna come crawling to Lund or Livernois or Bama or VMP or whoever. The Ford flash doesn't allow you to run any of that.

2. At some point you're going to realize that this is a big robust 5.0 liter V8 engine, and isn't likely to fail in and of itself, paired to a Getrag transmission that, even though it has it's detractors, well and truly is reasonably well suited to the application. These 2 items are the only things that an aftermarket tune might put the warranty in jeopardy for. Even then it's a gray area and dealers will work with you. The parts that actually fail and you might wanna use your warranty on: interior bits, convenience features, a/c blowers, window regulators, abs modules, suspension components and so on, are all still covered either way. A tune isn't gonna change that.

3. Good luck finding the Ford Power Pack in stock anywhere.....seriously.....anywhere. It could be months.

I realize my response is kind of long, that's why I tried to organize it fairly well. Enjoy!

Thank you for the info. I am 90% convinced on getting the FPP2. My local Ford dealer in NY will charge me $360 for the install. The price for piece of mind...

I hope it will be enough of power difference. If not, I'll go for the Rouch SC.
