Tuning an 18 GT Non PP manual. Worth it?

i know tunes can really help the A10 be even more beastly but what about manuals? Are tunes helpful for manuals? By as much as an auto? If someone could shed some light plz

If it ups the HP substantially I guess it is. If not, I’d say no. My gut feeling is you won’t notice much from a manual tune except a lighter wallet.

Not a tuner by far, but I have mine tuned. Noticed a big difference. Pulls way harder through the first 3 gears. Reacher out to shrader performance ( google search) he can give you a lot of info.

Yes but unless you the tune caused the problem more than likely you will be fine. I always put the stock tuned back on when I take it in for oils changes and such.

A good tune will always boost your power by unleashing what is held in reserve by Ford for reasons of engine wear, street manners, mpg, etc. If you go with a "Life Time Tune" such as Steeda, as you add power boosters one by one, headers, CAI, etc. you can upgrade your tune for no additional charge.

Yes, there’s merit in using a custom quality tune.

Quick note on that - they can tell if your PCM has been flashed, which can raise the warranty issue.

HP = Torque (Ft-lbs) x RPM / 5252
Correct. Increasing torque increases HP.

Actually the formula you quoted by many so often is nothing more than a mathematical short cut to calculate horsepower.

Horsepower is an actual unit of measurement developed by James Watt.
Many lose sight of this with the all to often published mathematical shortcut.

Besides, (BMEP) is really the best unit of measured power. But now we’re in the weeds over a post about ECM tuning a stick shift car.

Correct again. That formula is the widely accepted approximation. Here's the caveat, the formula result inaccuracy is less than the typical variance dynos provide. That's why most do 3 dyno pulls and then quote the best result.

BMEP, agreed. We're definitely in the weeds now.

I do wonder how much measured torque is limited by the factory program. Most claim it’s limited to 1st and 2nd gear.
I’d like to know by how much, either in actual ft. lbs. torque or percentages.
We’re talking GT 5.0 numbers.
