It shouldn't be. These parts are fairly dummy proof.

Article is misinterpreting the TSB. Here's the actual language:

No focus on the actual builder. It's a faulty part. If you look deeper into the TSB, the first thing they recommend doing is replacing the tensioner. It's definitely a faulty part, not a poorly installed part.
Hopefully this all will get sorted out. Went through this with the Focus RS head gasket fiasco.

Just found out about this. I`ve had no contact from Ford at all.
According to the service bulletin, letters are going out to customers May 10.
OWNER NOTIFICATION MAILING SCHEDULE Owner letters are expected to be mailed the week of May 10, 2021. Dealers should repair any affected vehicles that arrive at their dealerships, whether or not the customer has received a letter.

Got it set up with their best tech for first job, hopefully i`m out of there in 1/2 hr or so with a good pass.

Do not touch it. Mmmmm, ok. To dangerous to open the oil fill cap and look with a mirror I suppose. But hey, at least they are going to take a look.
Hopefully all is good.

Yeah. I'm no mechanic and it was easier than checking the dipstick for oil. 😁

My tensioner is NOT activated. Engine built by John Altodonna. 2,200 miles. Scheduling an appointment the dealer soon. Contemplating driving or towing, dealer is about 5 miles away…..

2,200 miles. What’s 5 more? Have a tow truck tear it up. I’d drive it. If it’s broke you would not be able to drive it. Not activated does not mean engine failure until if fails if that makes sense. Your timing chain has not slipped yet so the engine has yet to suffer damage.
Once it does slip, it’s a catastrophic failure.

I was thinking the same thing, I have an appointment in the morning. Anyone here have experience with Serramonte Ford? I never take my cars to the dealer, I try to do all the PM myself.
