Another option to consider: Engine Oil Filter Cover - KR3Z-6A832-A.
When some found that their filter had been installed improperly and damaged the housing, many of us ordered this part to have a spare housing on hand. Happens to come with a filter:

Good to have a spare housing.
Was just changing my oil and saw that the plastic nut on the housing is starting to strip. When I search this part number online it only shows up for the 2020+ GT500. Can you confirm please that this is the same canister as on the GT350? Thanks.

Also, when I called around it seems that they no longer sell this as a standalone part and it can only be purchased as part of a larger set with the adapter $$$...

My GT350 uses the older style. But I am sure it’s the same unit on all Fords that use this part.
I see Tasca lists them:

Also many others on the internet.

Any concern regarding the materials mismatch between that MMR filter cover and the stock plastic one, and the potential for resonance induced loosening of said cover? Similar to the issues described with the Ronin drain plug allegedly vibrating out because of the Voodoo harmonics. Probably not an issue but I'm just curious.

Did you opt for the K&N HP-7037?
I did finally hear back from K&N after waiting for a month for a very simply technical question - their reply instilled zero confidence in their understanding of the changes from the 2062 to the 2087. K&N indicated the change was reinforcement of the pleats as they were "laying down" on the 2062.

Based on their response, I'll be using a Fram XG11955 in lieu of the 2087, whether the 2087 is available or not. The XG11955 is synthetic media providing excellent filtration, the pleats are reinforced, and the cartridge is beefy and unlikley to collapse under pressure.

Its the steel core that is the most importance. We have had 2 cars that had the FL2062 in them and lost oil pressure due to the filter sucking in on itself once the plastic core gave way. Luckily both of the cars had MoTeC ECUs in them and had oil pressure safety strategies and shut the engine down prior to any damage. One was on a customers car out in Denver and the other one was at our shop when it happened. Both times were on hot days so I imagine the higher temps may play a part in it. But I also think that maybe higher horsepower cars that pull through the RPMs much faster may also be a contributing factor. Either way we don't run them anymore and have updated our owners manuals with the FL2087 as the filter to run. I wish one of the aftermarket filter manufactures had a steel core option as we are getting down to our last few FL2087 filters and worried about getting more. I really don't want to buy the complete housing just to get a freaking oil filter....but may come to that.
