Toyota needs to bring back the Celica - a retro of the 1977 Celica that is... with a hefty power plant and dual turbos.
nah, 1983 celica supra had twin turbo. In Japan at least.

The funny thing about the "new" Civic Type R......

The "old", previous generation car is faster.

HUGE downgrade, but the Japanese thank you, and all others who make the same purchase, for pumping billions into their economy every year.

I love my '17 Corolla. 40mpg. No payment. Until I need the power, then I hate it. LOL.

Sucks you had so many issues OP. My gt has been pretty solid for 4 years now. Especially considering the power it's making and the level of abuse I put it through. I have always loved Hondas but I doubt I could ever go back after the gt. A throw back celica would be pretty awesome though....

I respect everyone’s opinions. Initially I was not excited with the move to FWD and less power, but this car has been very fun to drive. I did consider the GR86 but none of the dealers around me had a manual. I plan to leave it stock and eventually get a second vehicle for performance. My problem is that I enjoy raw performance and manual transmissions which are dying everyday. The vehicles that I like are either out of production or out of my price range (13-14 GT500, Dodge Viper, Lotus Elise, C5 Z06, C6ZR1, RX-7, the real Supras, etc.). Having the Civic Si will allow me to have something to drive while the performance vehicle inevitably breaks down from time to time.

I planned to get an FK8 type r before I got my mustang, the only reason I got the mustang was I refused to pay the above sticker for a honda. I love the new generation and understand your decision.

I smell feature creep. The recent gen Mazda 6 is also highly regarded.
I almost bought a new Mazda 6. Reason I didn't is because:
1. I knew they were discontinuing the model
2. The backup camera was so bad. Like so very very bad

Other than that, that car was worth every penny. Its a shame they killed it off, and didn't create a Signature Trim for the Mazda 3

Yes. At the time we were shopping for a practical "responsible" vehicle. The Mazda 6 was one of the contenders, however the dealer didn't want to budge on price, and the backup camera was god awful:
