Took it to the 1320

Went to the local strip today just to have some fun. The car wouldn’t turn a better time than 10.92 no matter what I tried. The factory tires just don’t hook. I tried dropping psi by 2lbs in between runs, increasing slightly etc. just wasn’t meant to be today. The only thing I did not do was use launch control, pointless when it just spins without it on. I tried traction control on and off. My 10.9 runs were with it off. I made several 11.1 runs with it on. I managed a high mph of 131.42 but had a garbage 60’
The funny thing is, my first run was right off of the highway when I arrived. The ET was nothing to be writing about (11.14) but my R/T was. .001. After that I gave up and just tried to focus on getting the best ET I could.

I did meet a fellow member with a whipple GT. He had bigs/littles and that car was running 10.3s and 10.4s at 134ish.

I’m off to buy wheels and tires now. I also have videos of several runs but haven’t uploaded them anywhere yet.

Sounds like the track prep wasn't very good at all. 10.9 isn't that bad really for stock tires. it's takes good prep to get those 10.6 times.

Not much prep at all. Just sprayed down the burn kit box. Wednesday and Friday nights are just fun drags.

I think those are fair times you ran.I was at Woodburn,OR Raceway yesterday and there was a ShelbyGt500 running and his best time was 11.15ET

10.9 is not bad at all with almost no prep.

launch control uses the traction and suspension technology to get you down the track faster, this is likely why you couldn't get a better time. Either way, givent eh current DA and conditions, thats fantastic. so far every gt500 thats hit the strip has runs 10s , just as advertised. you would have seen records set left and right had the tracks been open durng the racing weather

Congrats,Those are great times because I thought the track was not the best.
I wanted to bring my 2017 Mustang Gt Whipple but I have been having back problems.
Your car looks great and hope to meet you at the next Modern Muscle Race.
I do not race very often,but I did run 10.70ET 132MPH last year

When is that race? I’ll be going back to try some more runs with DRs or slicks if I can get a wheel I like.

The Modern Muscle Class is a fun class for new cars(Hellcats,Shelby gt500,Mustang gt and Chevy Camaro.
You will have to call the track for schedule, because things are just crazy.
I have Weld Racing Wheels and M/T Drag radials on my mustang and they work great.
