and while they are at it, lets get to making 10,000+ of the GT/ year because we all deserve that one too.
:like: Speaking of the Ford GT it was just announced that planned production numbers will now increase from 1000 cars to 1350 so there are another 350 cars available to the general public with applications being accepted for 30 days starting November 8th.

That's the good news.

The bad news is that Multimatic up in the Great White North is only producing ~225 cars per year therefore production for the 1350 cars will take 6 MY's and with the first production year of course being 2017 and the final production year will be the 2022 MY therefore there will be a 4 year wait from now for some of the late approved applicants.

Sure would like to land a 2022 Ford GT especially with some of the speculation/rumors that Ford might increase the horsepower on the newer models by small amount.

The next Ford GT needs to be a V8 with or without electric assist.

The V6 experiment was fun. But let's move on to something more serious please.

Personally, can't wait to see what the new 500 does.

I have a feeling that if/when a new GT comes out it will be powered by, or at least assisted by, some sort of EV tech.

I don’t think anyone has access to that gallery
Thanks for the heads up. How do I change the gallery to allow public access?

BTW - it’s a photo of the GT500 Supercharger plenum with “1-14-19” where the build number would be. Indicating date of the GT500 press conference during media days at the NAIAS.

You mean this photo that has been plastered across the internet or is it something new?

I read all of the negative posts about the Z/28 and wonder how many of you have actually driven one. My guess is close to zero.

No Z28 but I tracked a new, 2017 SS 1LE and loved the rev matching, Performance Data Recorder, and the fact that it came with a front tow hook, battery in the trunk, plenty of caliper clearance, plenty of lightweighting, and a well done TR6060 6-speed transmission. Performance was close to that of the GT350 and for quite a bit less cash. A great value.

If the GT500 can match the above utility (and more) it'll definitely be on the right track. What hurts is that we all know the price penalty for anything Shelby is substantial and the upcoming GT500 may be the worst ever in this category.

I think 50k ADM's will be commonplace.

That's nuts. It will be interesting to see how bad it gets in California again though.

I've never driven a Z/28. How do you like the carbon brakes? Have you used the car enough to have to replace them yet? Do you think carbon brakes on the Z/28 are preferable to the GT350R carbon wheels with less expensive brakes?

It looks like the GT500 will go with a similar setup to the GT350R for wheels/brakes. Do you prefer GM's design decisions on the Z/28 over Ford's on the GT500?

I had a '16 350 TP before my R that I tracked 4 times ...Autobahn in Joliet, IL. I've had my Z/28 to the same track twice....and also Road America. Both cars on Michelin PSS tires. I think they are 2 different animals that get the same job done, but get to the end result differently.

The only brake fade I experienced in either car was when the pads on my 350 were down to nearly nothing. I'm no Randy Pobst and both cars still need a driver upgrade. My Z/28 had 3000 miles on it when I bought it. The brake pads looked nearly new, and yes...I have the carbon brakes. After 2 track days and some 135mph blasts at Road America, they still look new. You can't say that with the 350. My brake pads on it lasted 3 track days on a slower track.

I will have my R to the track this summer. It had 1700 miles on it when I bought it at below MSRP with lots of extras. Carbon wheels and P Cups will be on it at the track, but I purchased a set of Vibe R replica wheels for daily driving. They seem to be the best replica wheels on the market that look great and have plenty of caliper clearance. 1 set costs as much as replacing 1 carbon wheel!

Set-of-the-pants driving around town: Z/28 wins hands down. Sound and heads turned: GT350R wins hands down. Its a good time to be a car guy!
