My tire spins on the rim with drag radials, even on the street.. I put the mark on the tire at the valve stem and noticed some movement and put another mark the next day on the wheel lined up with the mark on the tire, definite movement. This is from like 7-10 1-2-3 dragmode shifts on the street. Is there any real fix?

My car is tune only so I wasnt expecting this especially just on the street. There is noticible vibration above 80 mph from the tires being unbalanced now. Should I just remove the balancing weights?

Have a tire shop mount the drag radials dry and rebalance as a first step... probably there is some lube in there causing problems. I currently theorize that windex is an acceptable tire lube.

I have a ~$100 bubble balancer off eBay and sticky weights. Whenever the car starts shaking due to wheel spins I just do a static balance and the problem goes away.

My VMS wheels and 305/45/17 ET Street Rs spin too (much worse than that) but I still cut 1.65/1.67/1.68 60fts last time out at track, launching off idle and/or footbrake.

Do you just remove the balancing weights? I plan to remove mine I guess. Do you get vibration at high speed? I do have vibration above 90

I haven't removed any weights at all. Per my logs, I was hitting 133 MPH before hitting the brakes after the 1/4 mile traps. I noticed no vibes at all.

I would just have them remounted dry, as suggested above, and then rebalanced. You can also use bead glue. I personally am going to swap to D5 beadlocks on the rear if I detect it holding me back next time out.

So you had them mounted and balanced with weights and the tire spins on the rim but you dont get vibration? seems odd. What psi do you run? Im at about 20-22, 30 was way too high

I’ve been1.17 with glued on radials, buy some permatex hi tak and glue on the tires. Usually tire shop mounted radials will move a bit and finally seat after a few hard launches.

Remove the wheels. Inflate tires to 50psi. Use a heat gun to warm the bead all around to around 125-140°. Let sit for an hour. This will allow any tire lube to be squeezed away from the bead, and the rubber to stick to the bead wall again.

That will not stop the wheel from spinning inside the tire.

I just removed all the weights from the rear wheels and took it up to 140 mph, feels a ton better, nearly perfect now.

Also had to plug one since a drill bit was stuck in it, and the plug seems to be holding fine. A lot easier to plug than normal tires.
