I recently received a set of gloss black 20" rims, with 35/255 and 35/275 tires (staggered fitment).
They needed tires mounting and balancing and TPMS sensors installing. (The wheels came supplied with tires mounted but no TPMS, so I bought a set of new sensors to have installed)
Firstly I went to Big O's Tire Shop in Irvine. The complete imbecile that started working on my tires didn't clamp the wheel down well enough, so whilst operating the machine to start the tire removal process, the wheel broke free from the clamps and jumped into the air about 2ft :eyebulge:
Luckily he caught it so it didn't crash land onto the floor. He looked like he didn't give two shits about doing a good job on my new wheels, so I told them I didn't want to continue and left without paying them a cent.
Second I went to Discount Tires in Lake Forest. They took a look at my wheels, said OK no problem leave them with us for an hour. So 45 minutes later I get a phone call and they say they can't do them because the mechanic is concerned he is going to damage the rims during the tire removal and refitting process. These are a 35 profile tire, so nothing different than the OEM Pirelli 20's, so I have no idea why thought he would struggle
Anyway, I returned and took my wheels away.
Finally I stopped in at a place called Wheel and Tire connection in Lake Forest. They served me promptly, despite me being a walk-in with no appointment. The guys doing the wheel balancing took good care handling the wheels and made the effort to also install matte black wheel weights so they blended in with my black wheel barrels. The wheels didn't get any scratches or damage, and they were reasonable in price at $25 per wheel. Sure I could have saved $20 and got them done elsewhere, but the service here was excellent and the guys clearly knew how to handle aftermarket wheel and tire combos.
Just wanted to share my experience incase anyone in the Orange County area is ever looking for a good wheel and tire shop....Wheel and Tire Connection in Lake Forest gets my thumbs up
