Follow up question. Do I really need to do the rotor work? How can I tell if I need to have them polished? This will be my first pad replacement on the Mustang. Also, the quote included cutting/polishing the rotors, still too expensive or fair price?
In my experience, if you aren't already seeing the effects of a warped or badly-surfaced rotor (like shimmying under braking), then you shouldn't have to resurface or refinish it. As long as rotor thickness and surface finish seem ok (no cracks, no deep grooves, etc.), keep using them. The only thing I would normally do is follow a thorough bedding-in procedure once the install is complete. Lots of reputable sites list how to do this; it usually involves getting the rotors nice and hot with some prolonged light to medium braking events followed by several hard braking events from ~60 mph to transfer pad material.
