Hi guys,

I have a 17 auto GT and past couple days there has been this ticking/rattling noise when I accelerate from a stop in the low rpms for a few seconds and then it stops. It only seems to happen when I accelerate and stop when I am stopped or going at a constant speed. Any ideas? or could it be serious?

Search for thread on ebrake adjustment.

The ebrake cable assembly mounts to the driver side floor pan; it’s on an angle in the top of trans tunnel sandwiched next to the exhaust. The cables become loose, allowing the associated assembly to rattle based on engine RPM, NVH from road surfaces or even tension of cables as they adjust to underside temps. The rattle is sporadic, could be repeated under certain conditions, sometimes not. Noise in interior will sound like it’s under the console lid or directly below the center console where arm rest section is located. It’s a tapping/rapping metallic sound.

If vehicle is under warranty, have Ford do the adjustment. If you’re a DIYer, just follow the instructions in that thread on here.
