I've had few instances when in first gear that the throttle surges and lunges, sometimes after a bit of acceleration and then coming off the throttle. It's quite bad, I need to clutch in and take off the power or shift into second to get rid of the bucking.

I'm running the Ford Performance Power Pack2 with the Ford Procal calibration file (Australian version).

Is this common or a tune problem? Do I need to consider another tune?
Cheers.

I've had this with no tune. Maybe my air filter needs to be replaced?

I think it's probably the 87mm TB...I've just ordered a Lund Tune and they specifically mention low speed surge with the 87mm TB. I might have to revert to the stock TB.

But I'm using the stock TB with stock tune, so I don't think your problem is tune related.

I'll have to play around with my car for a few days to see if I can recreate the surging. If I recall correctly, the last time it happened to me was when I was accelerating somewhat slowly in 1st. But if I can recreate it, I will post what happened.

This would happen to me on my 2017 before and after the Power Pack 2 install w/ford tune.

My 15 would do this with a CAI and catback only but I usually only noticed it in first but on bumpy pavement and I got sloppy with my clutch foot, never thought it was a car problem.

My 2015 does this every once in awhile and it’s very embarrassing. It seems to only happen if the temp is too cold for the summer tires or I don’t give it enough gas. Car is stock.

I thought I heard somebody solved this by having their tuner add in more timing at low rpm low throttle situations. This seems to be a common issue and I have think it has something to do with timing and/or throttle mapping.

I thoght it was my tune, I found the PCV hose on driver side wasn't connected properly and would snap into place, could come on an off easily, check all your hoses, filter box etc.

Adding the timing down low will take away the surge at throttle tip in. It's still there a bit on gas, but with ethanol it's all but removed.

I had a surge at WOT like what is explained. I have an 18 GT PP automatic, that is stock, and at WOT itll surge hard then continue with driving. It's odd, but i heard it could be the car is pulling timing.

I just installed pp2 and getting similar problem. When accelerating hard between shifts it bucks anything above 5500rpms. Didn't do this before installing pp2. Happens in any gear.

I ripped out the 87mm TB and went with Lund flex tune, which is super smooth and better all round.

More power even on pump fuel?
Have you dropped some ethanol in it yet?
