Just read This article on Motor trend about the new hybrid Lamborghini Sian and it got me to thinking about how the supercapicitor technology used there could be applied to future Mustangs. Used basically for enhancing low-end torque it would seem a good match for Coyote and as it would be much less of a weight penalty therefore easier to stomach from a performance standpoint. Any opinions?

The article explains the pros and cons of supercapcitors.

As with most things EV, the technology has it's good & bad.

What I did notice was the 2.8 0-60 as a performance benchmark for the car. That's not that fast these days.

Stopped reading the article after the following line " Supercapacitors are also much more expensive than batteries ..."
There won't be any supercapacitators in a Mustang in the near future ;) Maybe in a GT but it will be too expensive for a Mustang.

Yes batteries are the weak point of electric cars. Super capacitors aren't good enough yet either. Not competitive with the ICE at all.

Pay attention to solid state battery technology. When these arrive it will make EV's quite a bit more attractive.

That's the hope. Battery technology is really the weak link for EV's. From an efficiency standpoint ICE engines can't compare, I want to love EV's especially with their simplicity....

Actually got to drive a tesla model 3 today, first EV I've ever driven. I have to say, it's very cool, makes me want to keep my eye on the mach e when they release the GT version.

The weak link for EV's is the power grid.

Yes - change over the roads to incorporate slot car track grids and install similar slot car electrics into the vehicles... future maintenance is as easy as popping off foam rubber tires and changing the electric motor brushes.

Bingo! 😆😁

I was promised that six years ago I'd be able to get a:

Flux capacitor
Mr. Fusion
Hover conversion

And where the hell is my hoverboard?
Don't forget your self lacing Nikes... and elevated interstates. "Where we're going, we don't need roads...."

OP, the technology still has a lot to gain. And the cost would be a big factor as well....
