Hahaha love the comments. OK Heres the scoop. I work for a company that designed a very limited number of runs of Mustangs that replaced the 2012-2013 Boss 302. Its a company in Charlotte with a long history of racing all kinds of stuff, including NASCAR, rally, even sports cars (GT40's). Edsel Ford walked into the shop one day and said "We need you to do something for us". OK! done!
Anyway, our company has had some of the best drivers in the biz. Pearson, Fireball Roberts, Gurney, Lorenzen, Andretti etc.... So they are all either acquaintances or friends.

So a little while ago I said I wanted to come over, and he said sure! So that was this weekend. Had a blast, just the best guy on the planet. He was very gracious and opened his home to me and treated me like family.

A good part of the reason I went to go see him was I needed to interview him for a book Im writing. Im from CT and Lime Rock is my home track. I grew up there racing and then moved on (formula ford, formula atlantic, pro rally, and even worked an F1 team). So we both had common interests, the race shop I work for and Lime Rock Park. Lime Rock is where he got his first ever road race win and launched his career.

We sat around telling stories of mutual friends, racing stuff, and all kinds of things. He invited me to be a guest of his at Indy this year so Ill be doing that for sure. Not going to say no to that....

Interesting that you are writing an article about him
Last year I tried to track down a biography about him from library, Amazon etc and could find nothing which really surprised me given the thousands of biographies written about one hit wonders and other non entities and very limited achievers
Any suggestions?

Isnt that great? That was one of our cars he raced back in the day. Was one of his favorites too.
Another one of our 67 427 fairlanes won Goodwood last year at the hands of Tom Kristenson. It won 2 of the 2 races, it was a good weekend
