edit--- for ****'s sake, sorry I buried the question too deep for the 1/2-second-attention-span crowd.

Here it is, bottom line up front: the power socket in my dashboard is always on, which makes my phone try and connect to the radar detector constantly, no matter how long it's been since I last drove the car. Is the plug supposed to be that way? Should I go see service? Is there a simple way to make it switched instead of always on?

---end edit

... is the switched power socket.

Don't get me wrong, I absolutely love my 2020 GT convertible and wouldn't trade to get my Charger back, but sitting here in my hotel room with the Mustang parked outside my window, and all I hear is my phone going--

V1 DRIVER

dee-dee, dee-dee

V1 DISCONNECTED

thirty seconds later

V1 DRIVER

dee-dee, dee-dee

V1 DISCONNECTED

thirty seconds later

V1 DRIVER

dee-dee, dee-dee

V1 DISCONNECTED

thirty seconds later

V1 DRIVER

dee-dee, dee-dee

V1 DISCONNECTED

ad nauseam.

Isn't there an off-topic forum for all of this recent nonsense posting?

Okay, do you have a solution for switched power sockets? Should I have phrased it a bit differently? I rather thought the question was implied.

No, a Dodge Charger.

Obviously.

Which was traded in for a Ford Mustang a few weeks ago.

...no, nothing obvious about your post.......
It could be an iphone charger or a Samsung Galaxy,
...of course, Galaxy could be interpreted as a Ford.

You said nothing about a Dodge.................

tough crowd. I think I know what you are talking about but mine stays powered for 45 minutes or so then shuts off. it doesn't go off and back on. also just hard wire it to the mirror tap much cleaner.

Jesus. Yeah. It certainly makes you want to come back later with more questions about your new car.

I've seen people say that the plug stays powered for a certain amount of time--ranging from 5 to 60 minutes depending on the person--but mine doesn't seem to ever turn off. As soon as I walk outside my front door, my phone is trying to connect to the radar detector. Even if I didn't drive the car at all that day. Tonight, I had to just go out and unplug the thing after a couple hours of waiting for it to stop.

Hi LT. Yeah, reading comprehension can be an issue here from time to time. :giggle: Anyway if you feel that your plug is continuously live, get the car back to the dealer. Do not wait until you have a dead battery.

Hey, at the time I needed a usable back seat- my kid was still living at home!

So it's not a normal thing for the plug to be continuously live, then? There's been a few electronic oddities that I've noticed so far--inconsistent behavior with memory seats, SYNC & Sirius misbehaving, etc--but haven't been sure what to chalk up to just differences in expectation vs intended function.

Lose the radar detector for a while and see if those issues clear up.

Aftermarket plug-ins are a known issue within the repair industry.
