Interesting info below. I don’t understand why they keep all your parts.

It is nothing new. Shelby does this with any conversion. But, to your point, I wouldn’t send a CFTP in for the conversion. You might get the wheels back, but I’m not sure about the wing and supports.

Fellas - I get on the website that this upgrade package isn't 'Street Legal' - but who determines that when you get it back to a different Country?

It is, on paper, the same car you brought down to Shelby. Still has a VIN, had insurance when you drove it to Shelby and you drive it back to Mexico or Canada it still has that same insurance no?

Also, what are the thoughts of this on a road course? I get the straight-line power/appeal - but do we think the suspension and arrow upgrades will improve its performance on a road course over the CFTP GT500?

1300 hp is a lot, should be good for about 157 mph in the 1/4 mile on E85 and about 145 mph on 93 octane. But holy smokes, $300k (including the cost of the car)? I'd honestly rather have a new 911 Turbo S with some bolt ons and tune; wouldn't be that far behind if at all in the 1/4 for less money 93 vs 93, and much nicer, oh, and "road legal".

For about $300k there's a long list of supercars that would go in front of this for me, though I get that it's a Shelby "special", I'd still spend my money first on any of the following:
  • McLaren 720S
  • Ferrari F8 Tributo
  • Ferrari 296GTB (starts at $322k)
  • Lamborghini Huracan Performante
  • 911 GT2 RS
  • 911 Turbo S + mid size luxury car
I suppose they have to claim it isn't road legal since it's heavily modified and likely the emissions equipment is removed. If you live in a state that requires emissions checks for legality, then yeah, you're probably out of luck when it comes time to pass those tests/checks.

That's all legal speak. There's nothing stopping you from getting this back to your home and driving it on the road assuming you can pass emissions testing.

From my understanding, you can turn the power all the way up to the 1300HP mark or you can keep it mild with around 700HP.

According to Ben Stoner (Fathouse) on a local facebook thread, 29 of 30 are already spoken for.

I spoke to Shely American yesterday and before Sunday was over, all 30 had been spoken for and they keep getting phone calls about people wanting to buy one.

I believe this is the reason for the Disclaimer "Not street legal" Something is missing here ... Specially with the three letter government agency doing all the crazy over reach. Does a "Not street legal" really get the builders off the hook? Pretty sure the cars still have VIN's since customer cars are used for the builds. BTW those are Turbo heat blankets, NOT catalytic theft protection lol.

Thanks for the clarification and additional info fellas; now I see the "body" is a "donated" pre-purchased VIN'd body - and NOT a "body in white" like the Cobra Jets.

:like::clap:
