Test drive was today. I have to say the sway bars are as advertised. I’m shocked at what a difference they have made. I purposely didn’t group other suspension upgrades into this weekend’s install as I wanted to feel exactly the sway bars would do. The car on an otherwise stock suspension is transformed. Truly.

Four holes on the front. I went one hole up from softest. Three holes on the rear. I used the middle one.

If you’re on stock suspension but don’t want to change ride height or fool around with alignments then this is the modification for you. I would say it’s almost a required mod.

New Dynavin D9 Plus arrived, not performance related, but I'll be glad to be rid of the tiny screen. My biggest concern was that the replacement bezel wouldn't be of good quality. Fortunately it is, even better than I hoped. Its is heavy duty and doesn't feel cheap to the touch. The buttons are nice and finish is appropriate. I'll install this coming weekend. Other highlights are:
  1. Android 11
  2. 4GB RAM
  3. 64GB of storage
  4. 10.1" / 16:9 high resolution capacitive touchscreen (1280 x 720 pixels)
  5. Wireless CarPlay
  6. Supports steering wheel controls

Well I installed the unit and was testing before I zipped everything up and it isn't working. It is hung on the screen in the picture and no amount of hard resets has made a difference. I've reached out to Dynavin support via email so we will see what they suggest.

I know everything is correct wiring wise as on first boot the unit worked. I was having a BT issue and rebooted it again, and this is where I'm at. "Please press and hold the menu button". I've hard reset with their included paperclip reset pin many times.

Dynavin D9 Installation and Support Request

It is nice when support is good. I was having an issue with the installation of my Dynavin D9 Plus (see post just above) and a couple of hours after I sent my support request Chris from Dynavin North America reached out and supplied the fix.

If someone else gets stuck at the "Please press and hold the menu button" screen on boot then while on that screen:

1. Press and hold the touch screen at the bottom right corner. A hidden option (love those), that will bypass this screen and get you to the home screen (it worked). There is no button there as you can see in my post above, but the unit does respond if pressed at the bottom right.

2. Go to "Info" to get your serial number. You will need this in order to upgrade firmware.
I ran into another oddity here. If I pressed the "Info" menu the unit went to the "Apps" submenu, meaning I couldn't get to "Info". After some fooling around I realized the menus were labeled wrong. The "Info" menu went to "Apps" and the "Apps" menu went to "Info". Whatever I got the serial number.

3. Upgrade your firmware following the instructions on Dynavin's site.

My initial firmware version was: 9.0.1.07D
My firmware version is now: 9.0.2.01D

My initial OS version was: 2024-07-17 U2.2-C
My OS version is now: 2024-08-30 U2.2*-C

I'm not impressed with how this unit arrived, but Chris made it right and did so quickly.

My thoughts now that the unit is working
Reasonably snappy. I won't say it is super fast, there is at times a little lag. Overall I'm happy with the speed.

Wireless CarPlay works and works well so far. I'll update if it isn't reliable.

Screen is good, short of great. Matte finish, so glare is minimal.

FM radio reception quality decreased 10% to 15% for those stations that are low powered or distant. I'm not sure why this is considering I'm using the same antennae and it simply connects to the Dynavin.

Bezel looks good. I'm happy.

Other Notes:

They send two cables for your factory backup camera, A and B. I had both plugs in my car, but my 2018 required the B cable. I tried A first of course.

Others have noted they don't send the Teal radio cable from the video. You don't need it, it is just that the factory cable is a short cable and the extension would have been nice.

The Dynavin installation video leaves out removing the solid black box behind your bezel at the top, but yes it comes out.

Installation is super easy, three hours or less.

The double sided tape on the mic sucks. I'll have to figure something out here, probably just something more heavy duty.

If you unplug the ribbon cable, while powered, and then plug it back in you will have to hard reset the unit, otherwise the screen stays black.

I ended up going with Ground Control coilovers (koni/eibach) with their camber plates and helper springs. Should be here next week.

I was able to get the X-ineering downshift blip module installed today. It has been noted many times before, but yes the clutch switch is a hassle. I ordered the plug-n-play harness add-on and that was super nice. Worth a $100. To make things easy familiarize yourself with how each male and female end go together and release. You have both male and female on the harness they send which makes it super easy to practice a bit. Then when you reach up for the clutch switch plug you know exactly what to feel for. It took two or three minutes to release, another five to plug in. Took it for a test drive, as advertised. Only modification I made was turning the throttle blip percentage from 50 to 40%. Good mod, I like it.

Absolutely the best non-active 3" catback you can buy, and 1/2 the price of Borla.

It was your posts that convinced me to give it a shot, so if you're wrong...... :). I have faith though.
