Our first TV was 17" and the picture was round. There was one station and it started broadcasting at 3:00 pm and ended at midnight playing the star spangled banner.

The expression "It ain't over until the fat lady sings" comes from the Kate Smith show, an early 50s variety show. She sang "when the Moon comes over the mountain" at the end of every show.

Whichever button you want to set to the current station, grab it and pull toward you until it stops, then push back.
