I went to Houston Raceway Park Friday night for open track night. It's a 1/4 mile track that NHRA runs on every spring, so a real deal track. It was empty so I did 4 hot laps back to back. My runs were from 11.8xx to my fastest of 11.112 at 126.85 mph. I had a slightly higher trap speed of 127.54 on one run but slower 1/4 mile time.
DA was not good, 2700+ feet and it was still over 90 degrees when I did my first run around 7pm. Car did now want to hook up and on 3 of the 4 runs, the car bogged down between 1st and 2nd shift. The one run it did not was my second run at 11.112.
In the 2020 base car my best time was a 10.82 at 130.30 mph. DA was -249 (edited from 139 mph and -500 DA) so the air was perfect. Temps were in the high 60's so great there. I also removed the wickers, Gurney flap, and put the rain tray in.
Friday I had the wickers on, rear wing in the aggressive setting, and rain tray out. I read somewhere the rain tray in cause less drag because the air is going over the car not through the engine compartment.
They shut down for the year in 2 weeks. Hoping we get a cold front in before then and the DA and temps drop. My next runs the car will be as slippery.
