I guess if you want to post a thread in "forced induction" and ask for a reason not to do it, is code for telling the poster that the water great jump in. I on the other hand I took the question to be sincere. Didn't mean to ruffle the feathers.

When I owned my 2003 Terminator convertible I saw a Mustang rolled over, wasn't even a high speed deal. I've never forgot what that car looked like, put my Cobra up for sale soon after.
So, what do you drive now?

I own a 2019 GT, which in Feb received a Gen 5 3.0Ltr stage 2 whipple.
The car registered 650hp at the hub.

My largest issues were with tuning.
The initial Whipppe tune was quite poor and Whipple were not interested in supporting, so I went to third party U.S. tuner.

I now have to remove the CATs and GPF and replace with LTH.
So I'd suggest budget for some possible exhaust modifications.

U.K. GTs are not supplied with the STB, only the 'K' brace.
I can't say there's any noticeable instability for a lack of the STB.
However, my car is a coupe.
Perhaps an STB might have more work to do in a convertible?

Adding a few hundred additional hp makes the Mustang more interesting to drive.
Good luck with whatever route you choose to go.

You lost me here. I was planning on a Lund tune but hoped the generic Whipple tune would be good just to get the car safely drivable and to start the Lund process.

The supplied whipple tune is definitely safe to get a lund tune with, but I would not recommend keeping any canned tune for a forced induction setup.

If you are planning on a supercharger you better be budgeting for supporting mods.

Yes, my Whipple tune was driveable, better than a Friends Edelbrock tune.

Perhaps because I'm U.K. based, Whipple didn't want to know about adjusting the tune, so as you are planning, I went to a reputable U.S. third party tuner, not Lund.

Now, I have got to ditch my CATs and GPF (long story) and go LTH, which I had not originally wanted to do, or budgeted for.
I didn't want LTH because of U.K. emission regs and testing.
A few owners here have fitted LTH with 200 cell " high flow " CATs, but they have failed their emissions tests.

So based on my experience, I'd suggest that at least you discuss whatever emissions controls you have and want to keep on your car, catalytic convertors?
With your tuner, to ensure they tune for them, etc.

I agree with GiveMeaDollar, consider you may need supporting changes.

Go for it, but do your research, this thread is a good start.

I'm just thinking out loud but being put in this situation with the laws of emissions and whatnot I would go for Kooks Green Headers (request a custom emissions tune for that day) and order a side of test pipes to replace them after the testing is done? Seems to be the most cost effective / time efficient way around it.

Yes, something like that will be my long term solution, now my CATs & GPF are toast.

I think it's these new GPFs which are causing issues for tuners, perhaps?

That might be the case, although on Kooks Website they say that their 300 cell rated GPF is Boost Compatible so if any sort of failure where to happen you would be able to use the warranty.

I don't have to worry about emissions testing. So, I got that for me.

Are you saying I would need headers and CAT delete to run a Whipple?

Yes, a supercharged car will eat the cats. Took me 6k miles supercharged to melt the passenger side cat.

I guess the question is should I be that concerned with the loss of the strut tower seeing as I have a convertible? There is that BMR front brace I could install...
Oh, heck no. No strut tower brace on this car and the blower more than makes up for whatever loss of stiffness there is in the chassis.

I'm surprised at givemeadollar's experience with cats. Put a combined 100,000 miles on two Terminators with 2.3 Whipples on em making 16# of boost. Never a problem with the cats. Put 5,000 on this car since last year, with the VMP 2.3 already on it, total miles not known, but certainly no trouble with the cats in the time I've owned it.
