I've got a crazy idea that a supercharger would be a fun project while the pandemic rages.

2020 GT/CS convertible with 360 miles. Daily driver post-pandemic.

Budget about $7500. Want to retain the strut tower as it is a convert and do not want to make any crazy mods. Would like to update injectors and pump. Stay less than <1000hp. Oh, and also will want to do the OPG/CS upgrade at the same time.

Why should I not pull the trigger? I sorta feel I should be talked out of it but I don't know anyone anymore who I can commiserate with about it.

Skill level = Mad old-school skills, modern cars = not so much. I do have plenty of tools though! Kidding aside, I am an well above average wrench. Worked in a machine shop back in the day and crewed for a sportsman's class NASCAR team. The thing that concerns me the most is all the goofy connectors they use now. I had a 2014 Mustang that I could not get some connections apart even with several versions of the special tools. I don't know how anyone could have!

So, I would appreciate your advice and thank you for the time you take to give it!

Procharger or whipple. Procharger is definitely the easier install and can be a cheaper option depending on which setup you choose.

After driving multiple procharged and whippled cars they are different animals, both are awesome and you can't go wrong with either option.

You'll loose your warranty, you'll need better tires for traction, you'll use more gas, more speeding tickets, 460 hp is more than enough,

Of those the warranty issue is the only concern I have. Tires are consumables, gas is relatively cheap, lawyers are plentiful.

Based on your budget and desire to keep the strut tower brace, i would agree that the pro charger is the best bet for your goals.

This. Check out Beefcake specials that will package injectors, BAP and tuning.

Received my Procharger Stage II with P1X yesterday. Perused the instruction manual, does not look difficult at all. Procharger has a minimal of components and can make 900+ HP with the right mods.

I decided against a PB blower since I didn't want the weight, the wiring, the coolant pump, the fans, lots of plumbing, high IAT's, and the shared belt drive.

Got mine from Beefcake, and received exemplary service during the sale. I highly recommend Terry.

Look at photos of Rolled over Mustangs. The windshields become your lap belt.
This would be my reason not too increase the odds of a roll over by increasing power.

This is dumb. I am an insurance adjuster, i write far more claims on slow boring cars then performance vehicles. You don't know what his driving ability is. If you are a smart driver, you can control a vehicle whether it has 100 hp or 1000 hp. Will he need to adapt to a new power band? Sure thing, but that doesn't make a crash inevitable.

Keep the shift point or rev limiter 7500 or under and enjoy. Never did OPG's and have owned 3 Coyote FI setups - 1 manual, 2 autos. Set shift points at 7300 RPM on the autos and kept off the rev limiter on the manual when into it. Centri setup. is your best bet.

WARNING: The U.S. Surgeon General has determined that FI is more addictive than crack, heroin, Nicotine, alcohol, Cocaine, Meth, Porn, and sex all combined into one. How do I know? I'm on my fourth FI setup...and never been able to keep a car N/A for more than 12 months without giving in to the FI crave. So here is your reason why not to.

This has nothing to do with or without their driving ability. If you smoke you increase your odds of health issues. If you cheat on your spouse you increase your odds of divorce. If you eat candy you increase the odds of seeing a dentist.
You are employed by a business that does nothing but figure odds. I'm surprised by your comment.
I just was giving the OP a response to thread asking for someone to talk them out of installing a supercharger. Are you suggesting that this should not be a concern.
