Previous owner put the same combo on mine, 285/35 and 305/35 G2's. It rains a lot here, and many times Ill use rain mode. Dry traction issues were helped a lot by lower tire pressure. I've been running 30 cold rear, 33 cold front.

How do you like the look of the 295 in the rear? Tucked in too much?

Very happy. It's not the 295 that brings it to the edge it's the offset. Here is a picture.

I hear that a summer tire is bad in the rain, yea if you are driving like a hooligan in the rain.

I think any tire on these cars will be bad in the rain if you try hard enough lol.

@ Dave2013M3, I think when OP said ’tucked’ he means stretched.

There is very slight stretch on your 275/295 on those widths compared to 285/305 but I honestly like that better. It’s definitely more optimal for handling. I don’t want to come off as some spokesman for G2’s. They were just a cheap package deal to get me by. Not bad for the price but I’ll probably try out the PS4S next to see what all the fuss is about.

Ahh, ok. I am thinking tucked in rear wells. Yes I optimised for handling/weight. This package saved me almost 42lbs. over the OEM PP1 setup.

I am going to pick up some SVE SP2s from LMR, but I don't want to go with the Nittos based on what I read about wet and cooler ambient temperature performance. I am looking at Continental a Michelin based on feedback I have read. From what I am seeing, these sizes would be my two options:

1: Continental Extreme Contact Sport
Front: 285x35 R19
Rear: 295x35 R19

2: Michelin Pilot Super Sport
Front: 285x35 R19
Rear: 305x30 R19

Ideally I would want a 305x35 R19 in the rear, but that is not offered for either of these tires from what I can find. I am lowered on Steeda progressive springs. I do not think I want to go with 325 in the rear since they seem to poke out with these wheels and I do not want to have any rubbing issues.
Tirerack has MPSS in stock in 275/35 for the front and 295/35 or 305/35 for the rear. I’d probably go with one of those combos.

yeah buddy, the weight savings on the SVE wheels compared to the PP1 boat anchors are crazy. It’s too bad the PP1 wheels aren’t lighter.

This is the way to go for The Michelin option in a summer performance tire for street. I am hoping that Michelin will release a PS4S in 305-35-19 or even better a 315-35-19, by the time I need new rears.

I would like to hear from other forum members who have the same combo - on how they feel about it and if they would have done it differently. I am in the market for summer tires (on a new 19-10/11 wheelset) and still haven't made up my mind wrt tire selection. Gotta make up my mind before winter is over!

I have the G2s and absolutely hate them. On the stock tune, they aren't terrible. But when I am on E85, they're downright dangerous on the shifts. I'll get sideways shifting at 90mph in anything below 60 degree weather on most roads. Ridiculous. I've been looking at new tire possibilities as well and now I'm seeing that one of the best value tires I've ever used, the Hankook Ventus V12 evo2, is available in 285/35 and 325/30 and think I may make the switch from these POS Nittos

I have the 325 Hankook's and have no complaints. They're hard to beat for the price and they grip much better than my factory tires did. I wasn't sure how well they'd do in heavy rain but I've been through some downpours and they held up well for being as wide as they are.

It's interesting that Discount Tire has a 285/35/19 Michelin PSS to go with the 305/35/19, but Tire Rack does not. As you list, you'd need a PS4S from Tire Rack for a 285/35/19.

I would still choose the PS4S for the front no matter what, it is a better tire, will help with braking on the front. The sidewall profile is nearly Identical and you will not even notice the the slight variation in the lettering or tread. Really no reason to consider the PSS for the front.

I'm pretty sure the 285 is a run flat. That's why most go with 275.
