I did this on my '14 GT500. What did you notice as being the difference afterwards on an S550? Can you feel the clutch engage now? The only thing that I noticed on my GT500 was that the peddle was stiffer..

From what I've read, removing the spring entirely doesn't always allow the clutch pedal to return to the top position, and can damage the slave cylinder over time. For $10, the Steeda spring changes the assist from 185 in/lb to 35 in/lb, and is a HUGE upgrade. It took me five minutes to install mine, and I'm not going back.

Crap! I was installing the Steeda spring and one of the ears from the top plate snapped. It is in position and it doesn't appear to be moving, even with one side gone. Has anyone else had this happen? I'm going to leave it for now and keep an eye on it. It looks like the force of the spring is enough to keep it in place.

Yep.

Should stay in place just fine, without that other ear.

I struggled mightily to remove the sock spring with needle-nose vice-grips. The angle was all wrong to get any leverage to close them.

I tried a pair of small slip-joint pliers (Channellocks) and it came right out on the first try. Wish I had seen this video first!
