Stream Bluetooth only (Not Sync)

OK... Maybe Im missing something that is very obvious.

How do I listen to bluetooth audio... without using the Sync function?

For example:

I know how to stream pandora and spotify. The car syncs up and is integrated.

Now for example.. How do I enable "generic" bluetooth audio.

If I want to use my soundcloud app, how do I enable that basic bluetooth audio?

I know that I can enable something like spotify, pause spotify, then start playing on the Soundcloud app. This works. SOMETIMES. but i have the in car screen showing an error message or the last song that played on spotify. It doesnt show what is playing on soundcloud.

Doing things this way.. the connection also drops regularly. Or the car enables spotify and I have to pause that and re-enable soundcloud (or any other bluetooth audio app)

So is there a way to play NON SYNC bluetooth audio?

My BMW has the option to play just bluetooth (a button) as well as linking to connected apps (another button).

Push the button, and when it says to enter a command, say "bluetooth audio." When it chimes and asks for another command, just say "play." That's it. Easy peasy.
