I'm trying to figure out if something is wrong with my tremec transmission or if it's something that the 3160 just does. When going into 2nd and 4th you can hear this weird noise. Doesn't do it when shifting into 3rd. Clutch fully depressed when shifting through the gears and not slamming into gear either. Any thoughts to what it could be causing the noise?

Mine does not make that noise. A long time ago I had a t-3650 that made some funny noises only going into 2nd. Not quite like yours but it ended up being a shift fork and synchros per the dealer.

What's crazy is nothing feels weird in the shifter and there isn't any slipping either. Just this weird noise when going into 2nd and 4th.

I don’t think it’s the same issue but it started with a noise for me, then became difficult to get into gear. Then would just grind and refuse to go in.

Kind of sounds synchronizer related to me, not a good feeing regardless. Get it to your dealer and see what they say. Wouldn't cause anything with the clutch slipping, just the ability to get into gear you are going for. I would imagine that if things continue to degrade, it will eventually get to the point you can't get into gear.

Does it make that sound if you leave the clutch in or put it in neutral while moving? If so, more likely a wheel bearing. If not, probably one of the bearings in the tranny such as input shaft, main, throughout, etc. A specialist will have to tear it down.

I know it's a pain in the ass but that is why you have a warranty. Good luck! Let us know what they find.

Noise is only when going into 2nd while moving. Sitting still at idle and going in and out of the gears with the clutch in there is nothing and when shifting from out of 2nd into 3rd whole moving there is nothing as well its only when going into 2nd from 1st while moving.

Sounds like an input shaft bearing. Good luck! Hopefully it's something simple but none the less your warranty will take care of this.

Interesting....... In the past 2 weeks mine has popped out of 1st gear 3 times. In addition it has gone from very smooth shifting to notch going from 1st to 2nd and 3rd to 4th. Its going in next week to be looked at

First thought from my experience with other transmissions is synchros

Possibly or the linkage needs adjusting. If my memory serves me right the gt350 trans (Tremec) are quite notchy and takes some time to break in especially on cool mornings. There should be a friction modifier added during assembly and maybe they didn't get it filled all the way. I have seen his happen before too. Keep us posted!

I had an 08 that was grinding 3rd gear especially when cold and the synchros were replaced.
