What I'd like to do is pull out the stock amp and replace it with a small DSP amp and some nice speakers. Although I'm just in the initial stages of research, I was looking at something from Audison or Match. The requirement is to keep the new amp in the same spot as the factory amp. If I can hide a small sub amp in the back behind the carpet trim, I might do that, but I need the spare tire well for the spare tire.

What do I need to make this happen? Maestro A2B?

ETA: I made a mental note to mention it's the Large Display B&O "12 speaker" with SYNC3 system....Annnnnnnd I forgot before I hit submit..

Do you have the B&O stereo? If so, leave the factory amp in place and install a 4 channel micro and micro sub amp in the spare tire well along with your DSP.

In this pic, both micro amps are underneath the cover plate that says 5.600 and the DSP is to the left.

What are you leaning toward for a sub?

To simplify things (if yours is a B&O stereo), consider using Pac Audio’s AmpPro interface with the add-on Toslink with a fiber optic cable to prevent having to run multiple pairs of RCA cables back to your DSP.

There are many ways to achieve your desired result, and I’m sure others will
Chime in shortly with more ideas for you to ponder.

Man, last time I had an upgraded sound system all it took was upgrading the stock components, adding amp, capacitor, & subs & call it a day. Looks more complicated now

I'd like to keep the spare tire. Hence removing the factory amp and replacing it.

Here's what I have now. It's a 4ohm to work with the stock setup but I'm not opposed to swapping it out for a 2ohm.

Some of that wiring in my pic is for the nitrous system. It really is pretty a straightforward install, just like you remember it.

Wow!

When I first glanced at it...all I could think was, "holy crap...a nitro-powered stereo"!!!

Then, common sense prevailed.

What an awesome combination of sound and speed!#

What would be the point of keeping the stock amp?

For me, I kept my factory B&O amp to power my Hertz DSK 165 door mid bass woofers and one rear deck speaker (I removed the other to serve as a port to allow the bass to escape the trunk). The center speaker has also been dosconnected.

In addition, I replaced the factory tweeters in the A-pillars with the Hertz tweets that came with my DSK 165s. They fit perfectly in place behind the factory grills and maintain the factory look. These are powered by the Audio Control 4.300 micro amp.

It Depend if you have sync or not. The sync is so integrated that you need a DSP remove the processing. Once you have a flat signal, you can amplify it.

AudioControl or Rockford Fosgate DSR1. Then a good multichannel amp and speakers. Depending on what your stock stereo is. There are quite a few good threads on this forum.

If you have a stock amp, not matter if B&O or Shaker or whatever, the ACM is not doing any processing of the signal afaik (i know for sure for the Shaker system). All the processing is done in the stock amplifier.
I would get an appropriate A2B interface and use whatever amp i want to use.
It's way easier with the old Shaker though as with the Shaker the ACM is providing two power limited variable voltage BTL signals that you can use as "Low-Level" input.
With A2B you're dependant on the A2B interface which are fairly expensive.

Consider a Dynavin and used speakers from diymobileaudio forum for simple install and no risk.

1. I think the question is whether you have the Sync-3 or the factory 4 inch display. The 4-inch display should have the 6 speaker system. That can be swapped to Dynavin mentioned above. The 4 inch stereo does not have the same integration with the factory amp as the Sync3 (9 speaker system). That being said, you can swap stuff with less difficulty.

2. If you have a Sync3 system, with 9 speakers, the head unit is highly integrated. You can swap out the factory amp using a DSP of some sort. That will combine all the channels and get you a flat signal needed for the new amps. There is also a forum that has some links to a youtube video of an installer. That shows the process of finding what the pin configurations are at the connector to the factory amp. You may be able to use this to determine what you have to do to get the flat signal needed. This may also may depend on the year. (2015-2017, 2018-2020, etc..). If you have the Sync3 with the large display, replacing the head unit will cause loss of certain functionality.

I am not the expert here, but after some research, the above statement is what I have discovered. In my system, I have replaced my factory amp a multi-channel and subwoofer amps. I also replaced my door and rear deck speakers.

If there are installers out there, please correct my information.

There is a Dynavin unit for Mustangs equipped with the 8 inch screen.

I have 9 speaker and just did Audison 8.9 at OE kick panel location with Hertz MP speakers then added Kenwood XR 1000 mono block for the JL sub in OE dynamatted enclosure that I had on 2 bridge Audison channels for a while

After the XR 1000 I had 2 spare channels so got a 4" Ground Zero BMW center speaker. Tuned for two seat listening and sounds amazing. For under $1500 incl install some of which I did on my own, and XR 1000 plus sub I did on my own as first timer install.

Very simple and clean install though if I had a coupe with 4" screen I'd do Dynavin and whatever good used speakers or deal could find to keep costs reasonable and take it from there later.
