After the best part of a year running my daily driver on the MBRP street cat back, I've decided to put the stock exhaust back on. The MBRP is a nice sounding exhaust if you're after a more 'classic' sound - there was just too much of it for daly driving. I think really it was the early morning cold starts that started getting to me.
Anyway, after EXTENSIVE research, I don't think I can get the classic sound I'm after with any off the shelf after market option. There's lots of discussion about this and, as always, is a very subjective topic.
Basically, I think the combination of the Coyote's firing order, variable valve timing, and position of silencers pretty much rules out the possibility of achieving what I'm after. I'd really like to get that hollow, rumbly almost 'truck' like sound like this...

Only maybe not as loud. To get anywhere near with the coyote - I think it would need a mid muffler in place of the resonator - well upstream of the tail pipes. There's a few systems that offer some kind of mid section damping, but ultimately they all sound loud and raspy.
A firm called Legato do some nice sounding back boxes and a video on their website shows a before and after of a Dodge Challenger. Before, it sounds similar to many S550 exhaust set ups, but after it sounds like proper old school muscle.

This uses 2 mid section mufflers, and I just don't think there's room under the 'stang. Either way as they sell manufacturer direct only, they won't play ball!
Until I find a better option, stock it is. The stock exhaust is nice sounding, just TOO QUIET!
(I don't want much)
