This has been going on for a while now: when driving at speeds above 50 mph and especially at highway cruising speeds about 70 mph. I let go or hold a loose grip on the wheel and it moves left & right about a 1/4" or so. It's not terrible but pretty annoying. When I do have a normal grip on the wheel, I can feel a slight tugging back & forth, like front tires are trying to find "center" if that makes any sense. Anybody else have this issue?

I've noticed this in my car as well! It has a slight, but consistent wobble and if you grip the steering wheel, you can feel it tugging slightly. It's been happening for a while, and I'm not sure what causes it. I've had the tires balanced a few times and nothing changes.

On mine it was the Goodyear F1 tires. They even replaced two of them with brand new ones and the replacements were out of round and could not be balanced. Got four new Coopers and the vibration in the wheel is gone.

Yeah, mine started around 8-9k miles. I brought it to the dealership & they said it was because my tires were worn. So, I figured that could be possible. So, just replaced all four tires 2 months a go and it still did the left/right shimmy. Brought it back to the dealership, they said my tires were out of balance...I said: "bullshit". So, I told them to go ahead, got the car back...still has shimmy. Idiots. Here's a pic of the repair order...read the last bit, how fucking dumb is that?!

I had to take my car to an independent suspension/tire shop to find out the replacement tires the dealership sold me were also bad. I'm not surprised about the exhaust comment, its what I'm starting to expect from the dealership. They basically screwed me out of $300. Have an independent shop that has road force balancing verify that your tires are fully balanced, or if you have a friend local with another S550 swap wheels temporarily to make sure the problem remains with your car, then try a different dealership.

Actually, my Roush does add some vibration to the car.
Try swapping one side of the wheels front to back if they are not staggered.

Vibration in the seat I could see, but an exhaust shouldn't cause the steering wheel to shake.

not happy to see no one has really gotten an answer to this problem. I just got a used '15 and the steering started doing 2 days ago..was fine for first week of owning it.

Do these cars have electronic steering? I kind of assumed it had something to do with that.

if i am going down a straight road and let go of the wheel you can see the wheel moving back and forth but the car is going straight as an arrow.

Yup, that's what mine does. Yes, they are electric steering. Sounds like a stray voltage issue to me.

Only thing I can think is maybe my battery is dying..looks like the factory battery and the car is a 2015 so could be on it's way out...it has one of those "eyes" you can check it on and it is all black, figuring that isn't good. LOL

On top of that the steering issue started the day after I put my subwoofer and amplifier in the car, so maybe it is putting a weird draw on the battery? I am gonna try replacing the battery tomorrow morning and see if it helps at all.

Well, after taking a better look at the battery, the "eye" is green so I am gonna move on to making sure the tire pressures are right before calling dealer.
