Hey guys,

recently had these springs installed at my local Ford dealer- I’m having some rubbing issues on the rear going over bumps and I’m seeing little/no gap at the rear.

from what I can see of other‘s setups online, I’ve definitely got less gap on both front and rear. Do I have a tire size issue? I’m running 305/35/20 on the rear and 275/35/20 on the front.

Or, is it possible the springs were installed incorrectly?

Well, those tires are on the large side compared to stock so…

The rubbing could be easily fixed by dialing in a little more rear camber I bet.

Quick trip to the alignment place, but be prepared to show them where the rear camber adjustment is located. People _still_ dont know where that adjustment is and the chassis has been out now for 6+ years

Agreed.

OP, you just went pretty low with the sport springs and have mucho wheel/tire diameter. Dial-in camber or grab a 1/4” or 1/8” set of spring spacers for the rear.

Car looks good, btw. Nice color and wheel combo.

It is not the tires. Were the bump stops installed properly? I've never seen the sport springs have no gap with that size tires. Are your shocks/struts stock?

Personally I think most lowering springs are just too low and these are a fine example of why. If I were to run springs my choice would be Steeda Minimal Drop. Low enough.

305/35/20 center number, changed to 30 will help some, could get you there.

20 rim can also be in play.

Karen, has nothing to do with a bump stop. Read the definition of a bump stop, and its purpose.

Pictured: the car has 35 rear & 30 (stock) front. That number is the hight of the sidewall .

Does not sound like much, looks bigger when seen.

I'm a little concerned by this as I recently purchased those same springs for my car, still waiting on strut mounts and a couple other items before installing. I also wanted to go with those same tire sizes since the 30's I have on the rear now are a little too thin on the sidewall for my taste. I didn't even consider there'd be a rubbing issue.

Let us know how you get this resolved. Maybe I need to reconsider my spring choice :-[

I bet it is tire size, I'm running the same springs with 285/35/19 in front and 305/35/19 in rear and don't rub.

Check to make sure the bottom of the spring has that rubber boot on it. They need to swap that from the OE spring. If not I think you would have some major noise but you never know.

To be fair, the middle number is the percentage of the tire width that determines the sidewall height i.e. 305/30 = 91.5 mm sidewall vs. 305/35 = 106.75 mm sidewall. OP's rear tire is 1.1" taller than stock so extend a little more than 1/2 inch into the wheel well... offset on aftermarket wheels adding insult to injury??

No idea re: the bump stops - I had them package my original springs back up for me and there weren't any they put in the box. Can't imagine they would've thrown them away?

Working on getting it in for next week - I'm assuming that installing spacers would require pulling the springs off again?

Part of the problem is the 305/35/20 tire, that is a tall tire at 28.4" tall. You should have stuck to a 305/30/20 out back and a 30 series out front as well.
