Hello All:

Here is another great video our Steeda Team put together on the 3.5" Aluminum Driveshaft.

* 19lbs lighter than OEM driveshaft

Our driveshafts deliver improved driving performance and provide quicker acceleration. Take your car to the track often? Install a Steeda aluminum driveshaft for lower ET's.

Found this on "what things weight thread"

OEM 2-Piece Driveshaft / Auto: 29lbs
OEM 2-Piece Driveshaft / Manual: 36.2lbs

Shaftmasters Auto 1-Piece Aluminum DS - 19lbs
Shaftmasters MT82 1-Piece Aluminum DS - 18.73lbs
Dynotech MT82 1-Piece Aluminum DS - 17.4lbs
DSS Auto 1-Piece Aluminum DS - 27.6lbs
DSS Auto 1-piece Carbon Fiber DS - 24lbs

Now, I just need to know what the steeda piece weighs. Since their site says 19lbs lighter. Has anybody ever weighed it?

The biggest question:
Any experiences with driveline vibes AFTER installing it?

The only reason this is being asked is too many people have spent exorbitant amounts of money on a one piece aluminum DS for their S550 only to experience constant vibes after the install. Then you see these same folks posting they’re either returning it or throwing it onto the classified in here...

Thoughts, tips?

People need to understand that the listed factory weighs likely include the carrier bearing. The 19lb weight reduction is overall, not all rotating weight.

Hmmm... no reply from Steeda yet? It’s a very valid question.

The question about driveline vibration? We don't have any plans for a CF Driveshaft or one for the EB Mustang.

"
2016 Mustang Gt Drive Shaft
Drive shaft is just as described. Great quality and not pricey. No NVH at any speed. Good for everyday driving and perfect for hard line launches!"

I exchanged the 2 piece steel driveshaft on my Z28 for the aluminum 1LE driveshaft to correct a high speed imbalance. Apart from the lack of vibration I felt... nothing. No improvement in acceleration.

F=M*A indicates that accelerating the steel 30 lb driveshaft from 0 to 6000 rpm over a 12 second pass takes less than 1 hp.

The aluminum (and carbon) driveshafts look cool and save a small amount of weight, they are great for road racing where a 0.02 second gain, over many laps, is significant. For a single 1/4 mile pass, unless you're chasing the last few hundredths of a second they are not worth much.

Yes to the original question posted about driveline vibrations. Is the Steeda DS immune to driveline vibes after a consumer installs it and if there is such an issue after installation, what is the return policy on such a part?

Steeda wants our customers to be 100% happy. Period. If you feel there is an issue with the driveshaft, it can be exchanged or returned. We have over 31 years supporting the industry & that doesn’t happen without exemplary products and customer service.

The driveshafts are perfectly balanced, however, due to their one-piece design, it will not absorb vibrations that ALREADY exist in the differential or the engine/transmission. The one-piece driveshaft will actually exaggerate it but the vibration is not a product of the driveshaft.

Let me know if I can help assist further at [email protected].
