Well it turns out the decision was made for me. It looks like I will stick to the plan I had and keep the V6 as the daily driver and then buy the Corvette at the most opportune time but probably before the release of the mid engine Vette as I’m not crazy about that thing.
What happened is that I could not find enough 2017 GTs even in different colors to make the whole thing feasible. There was one car that fit the bill being black ase GT, but a used 2016. I could have gone for the straight swap with that car but I don’t’ buy used performance cars anymore. So the V6 stays. The funny part of this is that people car shopping with me think my car is a 2018 car (I even did a thread on this) and the daughter in law of a friend of mine begged me to take a ride with her in “her dream car (a V6 Mustang?) after I visited the last dealership lot. I took her around the block in light rain and she was tickled pink for the experience. Go figure?
I will also tell you truthfully, that I also shopped some Dodge Challengers (Hemi V8s) while I was at it. I found two, a black one that looks used but still may be new (on-line says it should be used), and a new one but lime green! Now I heard stories on Hemi engines so without more selection I will pass – or to quote Gordon Gecko: “That’s a dog with different fleas!” So to the thrill of my fellow V6 owners the V6 car was the best bet in the end. I was originally supposed to buy a Hyundai Elantra and later the Vette, but at the moment of truth, in the agony of the moment – I just could not do it; so I stretched and bought the Mustang! Best move I ever made as I literally got it two days off the truck and broke it in carefully and not one peep, not even one scratch so far. The car has been utterly reliable from -25 to 100 degrees from summer to winter. You make decisions with your mind and not your heart and this one stands.
Thanks for all the replies as it is much appreciated: V6 Forever!
Oh, and here are some Lambo pictures I took of that Lamborghini Gallardo on the Ford dealer used car lot:
Yes, the interior looks like the inside of the local whore house - but whatever!
