I just can't catch a break . Hope other rookies our following my threads lol

The strut spins when trying to tighten the top strut bolt with the spring in the compressor.

I took the pic below to show how far the bolt goes before the rod starts to spin.
Would it be easier to tighten if the strut and spring is attached to the car? Afraid if I release the spring this shallow it could pop the bolt off. paranoid

You need to hold the smaller top Nut. Use two open end wrenches or the ratcheting kind
wrench on the bottom becomes impossible, when the plates are on top. too deep.

i see the 2 socket technique that some are describing in other threads. Is it okay to use this before putting the spring and strut back on the car. then work on getting it to spec once installed? Not sure how I would get a torque wrench on the bolt and hold the rod at the same time

You'll need a strut nut socket in 21mm to effectively torque those nuts.

Is it 21 or 22? The pic above shows a 22mm strut socket.

My method i compress spring, assemble the strut on my wall spring compressor and use the electric impact gun, once i see the strut spin i release the spring compressor a little at a time. I then di final torque once it is in the car and front suspension fully loaded on the ground.

This is exactly what I was asking initially, not sure I i have enough thread on to release the spring without blowing the nut off. I am guessing it starts to spin when the nut gets to the red plastic inside the nut
