Brothers and sisters…I don’t even care!!!! I had to tell someone and you guys are my favorite group. Mods…delete this thread if you must, but I’ll take how ever long this thread lives in complete joy!

So I picked up a stupid ridiculous clean ‘05 GT for my daughter. Going through the car bumper to bumper. Well today, we just yanked out all eight spark plugs from a 4.6 and none broke!!!!

If you know, you know! Cheers!

I bought a clean 05 GT with just 28k on it when it was 12 years old.
Great car, I drove it for 3 years and sold it with only 60k on it for exactly what I'd paid for it!
But every night as I laid in bed I pondered those damned plugs.
Next guys problem now.........🤷
I hope you bought a lotto ticket today.

Nicely done!! That’s a worthwhile brag for sure. Best of luck with the ‘05!

Amazing! Agree, you should probably buy a lotto ticket. I still have pictures on my phone from 10 years ago of a few that we broke when doing plugs on my wife’s 2007 4.6 3V Explorer. I think 4 of 8 broke. What a nightmare that was!

Car looks nice, enjoy it!

I remember the last one I did was my dad’s truck with that motor. We broke 4/4. Nothing you can do with these plugs, IMO, but send it. They’re gonna break, or not. It’s up to fate. But that Lyle tool is pretty awesome. The four that broke was a non-issue. But still…dicking around with broke spark plugs in a head is never fun.

Lotto ticket time for sure!

I helped my brother-in-law replace plugs on his 5.4L F-150, and we broke the first few using hand tools......but then we got impatient and used an impact wrench to remove the remaining 5 plugs. I thought it was a really bad idea, but none of the plugs we removed using an air-driven impact broke. A rare time that being impatient resulted in fewer broken things!

Between the broken plugs when trying to remove them, pulling the aluminum threads from the head along with the plugs, and the loose plugs blowing through the hood, it was always an adventure. One time when changing mine on my Expedition one was barely hand tight. Got lucky that time.

Yup. I’ve got a ‘02 5.4 that’s blown two clean out. One blew so strong, it broke the bolt tap off the coil. I actually splurged and bought the nice, correct TimeSert kit designed just for this condition. I started a business renting that tool out to the community. No early idea how many people my kit saved, not how many times that kit has been paid for ;)

Funny enough, I actually ran across the recommendation to take an impact to the plugs on a hot engine and just full send. Couldn’t get up the nerve to do it. Luckily it all works out. This car was very well taken care of, so I tell myself that had a lot to do with it. Prior owner probably always ran good gas, etc.
