I need a 5mm spacer for the front of my GT. I've checked several parts suppliers and so far I haven't found any that sell hub centric 5mm spacers for the S550. Eibach makes them for the S197 but said they won't fit an S550.

Who sells hub centric 5mm spacers that fit the S550?

I figured out why I couldn't find a 5mm spacer with a lip for the wheel hub. The hub on these cars is thicker than 5mm. Unfortunately the GTPP wheels have a significant chamfer in this area, if I space them out there is no contact with the hub.

Now I have to decide if I trust the lugs to take all of the forces by themselves.

I bought my 5mm spacers from Maximum Motorsports. They are hub-centric.

Do you have a link? I looked at their web site, but only found spacers for 2014 and older models.

Yes I was looking at picking up some small spacers too. Couldn't find any that said they specifically fit the s550. Was thinking it was because of the 14mm wheels studs that were bigger than the 1/2" s197 studs.

My wheels need to be pushed out just a smidge, so I got the 3 mm version of these 5 mm spacers. The only review is from a Mustang owner with Brembo calipers, but reviews of the same product for other vehicles are generally positive. The item description includes "2016 Mustang" and I paid $12.67 (x2) for a set with free Prime shipping, so if they don't work then I am out only $25. I will post an update after installing them.

If you have spacers "separating" the wheels from the hubs, and the lugs are tightened to spec, the lugs will not be supporting the weight.

Lugs alone are not strong enough to handle the weight of the vehicle while driving, cornering, etc. It's the "sheer" strength of the mating surfaces between the wheel, the spacer, and the hub that hold the weight of the car.

So long as you have the surface area of the wheel/spacer/hub tightened to spec, you're all good.

The lip of a hub centric hub was never designed to hold the weight of the car. It's simply there to center the wheel on the hub so you don't have high speed vibrations with slightly off-center wheels.

This is why they make most hub centric ring adapters out of plastic (yes plastic) for after market wheels that were not specifically designed for the car. If the lip was designed to hold the weight of the car, those plastic rings would not last very long.

They barely survive a single use anyway.

There is no point of hub centric on 5mm or thinner

So I checked Maximum Motorsports cite and they only list hub-centric spacers for the S197 not the S550.
so slap them onto your lathe or mill and cut the center out. :)
there is no value to 'hub-centric' any thinner than 12mm.

I have a pair of 1/8" (3.175mm) spacers I bought from CJP and fit up, but never installed. If they are of interest to you, I'd sell them. They are 5x114.3 with a thru hole as the vehicle's hub rings extend through them into the wheel to keep it hub-centric.

CJP still sells these, here's the link. I see they removed 1994-2020 fitment, which was in the description when I bought mine. I suspect that had to do with the thicker spacers and the hub questions.
