Somebody's trying to log in to my account

Just got the same email, IP address: 72.52.91.30

My password is a good combination of caps, numbers and special characters, so I feel confident it is secure. But still, very strange that someone actually bothered to try to get access to an account I rarely use now.

Again, I think it's more likely that a single person (probably someone who got banned from here previously) is just using a proxy to fuck with people

I got this IP trying to login 81.89.96.88 even if you look up the IP it can be fake or something? how can you tell if it's fake or real? why are the Chinese trying to hack mustang forum lol? what can they gain?

Without tracing how the IP address is being routed to the servers, it's really difficult to say who is really trying to get access. No IP address is "fake", but you can easily mask your address using a proxy.

But again, I think it's far more likely that a deranged banned member is trying to get back at the admins than the Chinese government commissioning this

HA! I had this same thing happen to me a couple of weeks ago.....I thought about posting something about this but figured it must be a fluke.

I just can't imagine what someone would gain from hacking my forum ID. I have nothing...I mean nothing (that I can think of) that would be of value.

if they find the password and that password is used for other accounts (gmail, yahoo, ebay, paypal, etc etc) that would be a bad thing

I never use the same ID on a forum for another forum and I never use the same password for various accounts

I thought about that as well. However, I am the same way...my forum pw is unique to itself.....hmmmmmmm
