I got a laugh out of that but unfortunately that isn't the way it works...it would make a good prison story though.

It isn't, nor will it be, "Murder." Have you ever heard of, "Thou shalt not steal." If these thieves, or any thieves, try to steal anything from me, I have no issues punching their ticket "to the the other side." If everyone would do so, and thus do a little "house cleaning" of these vermin, much of this type of behavior would cease. Once criminals and thieves realize they stand a high probability of dying for their criminal activity, they will think long and hard about engaging in it. YMMV

You are so very wrong.

It depends on what state one resides in and the states interpretation of the "Home Castle Law." In Most "Blue States", you might be right. But, it "Red States", is an unwanted perpetrator is on your physical property and you perceive them to be a threat, the homeowner may defend themselves AND their property. Dead men tell NO TALES. I will take my chance to "Judged by 12, rather than carried by 6." Be assured, if someone comes on my property at 3 AM...uninvited and I perceive them to be a threat, it WILL NOT turn out well for them. I have every right to protect myself, my family and my property...and I WILL DO SO!

lol but the car that is sitting waiting has bright tail light targets....I bet they wouldn't even report you shot them out to the police. Obviously I'm joking and in no way agree with shooting someone for attempting to steal a car. :)

Honest!y, I'm in a no gun state. If I caught someone trying to steal my car or break into it, I would seriously beat them to death with whatever implement I had on hand. Then again, my Brooklyn Italian heritage has a leaning toward brutal vengance. Google Tommy DeSimone. (Late cousin)

A few things here...

I think someone earlier on in this thread said the Coyote motor was wanted and there was a shortage because of COVID. My answer to this is I highly doubt someone willing to steal your car to take it to a chop shop would buy a Coyote motor for $10k+. Thieves are called thieves for a reason. They certainly don't pay for what they want. Unless the payment is 6 feet under or jailtime.

I believe someone else commented saying the thieves were Mustang specialist. I doubt this as well. Most thieves target at least a few cars, if not all nice(higher dollar) cars. It wouldn't be profitable to go after just one car. Ford doesn't sell enough Mustangs for that. The fact they could find your horn and disconnect it doesn't make someone a specialist, it just means they can search for something. On top of that, someone trying to pick the lock is doing it the hard way on newer cars. If the guy didn't want to make a scene, he would have had certain electronics with him and would have waited until the proper time of day the OP would have opened his car with the fob and captured the signal. The way it works is one device has to be near the key fob and the other device has to be near the car. The device near the car spoofs a signal from the key fob. Then this prompts a response from the car's keyless entry system which is looking for a certain signal before it will unlock. It's a lot easier to copy a signal than crack one. These hacking devices have been getting cheaper and cheaper and the range has been getting longer and longer. You can make these devices for around $25 or buy them for more. Range is probably over 1,000 feet now too. I know you mentioned you had a pouch for your key. Maybe they attempted this and failed? Who knows. It takes more knowledge to pull this off than what the average thief has. Just saying.

No, I don't own one. No, I wasn't a thief in a prior life. Just research. Tech is a career and a hobby.

Yes, it looks cheesy. Very possible though. This works on any wireless security device pretty much.

Well that was an interesting read. I remember when I first got into guns. I enjoy shooting, a lot, but I hope to never have to shoot a person. It's just stuff, if the tweaker wants my TV, it can be replaced. If it's my box your yours, then it's go time. In Oman you see a few people walking around without hands, and 99% of doors are always left unlocked because theft rate is super low. I like the idea of punishments like that, but then there's the wrongly accused running around without a hand soooo. Even if I had the "right", shooting someone because they look shady on my property is just nuts. Shooting someone on my property that's walking up like Arnold in Commando all suited up with guns with a neon sign reading they're coming kill me...will just never happen....I mean it's Arnold.

Again, incorrect. The interpretation of the "Castle Law"...i.e. defense of one's domicile and property, is up to the state. In most "Blue" and liberal states, you might have a point. But in "Red" and conservative states, you don't. it is all how the law is interpreted by the law and the courts. Perhaps if the "Blue States" interpreted the law differently, crime would decrease. And for what is worth, my family has had members in law enforcement, legal and the military for the last four decades. And your comment "that not everyone should own a gun", in my opinion, clearly shows why they should: police can't be everywhere, all the time. The further along in time this nation goes, the crime rate will only increase. If citizens want to be safe, ultimately it is going to be up to them...and not law enforcement.
It's not the state sir, it's the people IN the state... laws are reflections of what most people want . It literally has nothing to do with red or blue or democrat or republican or whatever other label you can throw out there. There are states that are "red" that have higher than average crime rates, and cities that have the same as well. I mean really, how messed up does the TV new cycles gotten people. THINK for yourselves.

Earlier this week, I caught on my cameras two guys trying to get into my car. But it seemed like they knew exactly what they were doing. I drive a manual, and I usually leave it turned to the curb (old habit), and they knew to go into the wheel well and disconnect the horn right inside. It was around 3am, and thankfully I was awake because even if the alarm tripped I wouldn't have heard it. When I got a hold of my key fob and hit the alarm button, they ran off, but of course there was no horn which is how I realized they disconnected it. When the cops came we saw what they did. At the moment I hit my alarm, my cameras took an automatic picture, and it seems one guy was trying to get into the door handle's key slot where you can pop it open to get a key in to open the door.

So this means my car was targetted clearly, but my question is, if they were able to get in, would they have been able to even drive off with it? I have the Enhanced Security Package as well for what its worth. We keep our keys in Faraday pouches in the house and away from the door. So do you think these guys were just trying to get in and steal stuff or would they have been able to get the car even without duping my keys? My logic is, if they had been able to duplicate my keys, they wouldnt have had to go through all that trouble, so they were trying to get in the old fashioned way. Should I be worried about thieves of this level trying to get my car? I dont care if they are able to get in, I keep literally nothing in my car (and less than nothing due to the pandemic, I'm not driving much). Is there anything I can do to rest easier on this?

Not really much you can do other than get a house with a garage. I used to live in a duplex in a really good neighborhood and had my car broken into. I knew 100% it was going to happen. I was so paranoid about it that i would set my alarm clock at various hours of the night and get up to check on the car. One morning around 4am i got up to check on the car and sure enough the passenger side window was smashed in. The truth is, there are alot of pieces of shit out there who are willing to steal your belongings. The other truth is that a Mustang GT is too sought after by thieves to leave outisde.

No guns at home?

Sniper rifle on a tripod at the ready......
At least just a green laser.

There is not a single state in this country (and many have really messed up laws) where this explanation would send you anywhere than straight to jail. Posting things like this on a public forum is also completely ignorant and clearly shows why not everyone should own a gun.
And here I thought it was legal in Texas to shoot people stealing at night.

One option is to put in a kill switch. Place in a location you are happy with, they might give up if they can't find it quickly or don't know to look for it.

This is also when those busted vehicles that need special codes to start are nice. Pump the gas 3 times and turn the windshield wipers on high and she'll start. Shut er down by turning high beams on and the right turn signal...wait for the pop.

Most apartments I lived at before my house had garages you could pay extra for. Was a requirement for me.
