Since we're talking about healthcare, here's some interesting info. America is dead last:

1. United Kingdom

2. Australia

3. Netherlands

4. New Zealand and Norway

6. Switzerland and Sweden

8. Germany

9. Canada

10. France

11. USA
Hey, here's some interesting info---those are 1st world/developed countries/nations. Wait wait wait...there are 195 countries (give or take 2) in THE WORLD. I think you either need to qualify or quantify "dead last", which you did neither. You could have said "hey fucktards, America sucks as far as freebie healthcare compared to DEVELOPED COUNTRIES" or "hey, we can do more betterer". While we're at it, 5, *YES FIVE* of those are eastern European countries...7 if you include England and France. Gosh, WHAT DO THEY HAVE IN COMMON?

This is my favorite part:

"You know Americans who live in Canada, and I know Americans who live in Australia. These people have had their eyes opened to other possibilities."

Why didn't you list Iran, Iraq, Algeria, Afghanistan? I don't see them on your 'best healthcare' top 11 list. Do Americans who live in Iran, Iraq, Algeria, Afghanistan, Saudi Arabia, Turkey, Kazakhstan, Angola, etc. not have their eyes opened? Weird.

Sorry for the rant :(
^^^^No you're not.

See..... liberal and unable to have a normal conversation without making personal insults and spewing hate.
Not a liberal. That's an American term for those Americans who believe that shooting schoolchildren is wrong. I'm not American. I'm am however with you on this, I hate schoolchildren.

And
you want to trust these people with your health and life?
Not these ones, and to be honest what would be required to enact of what I would like to see would require us to get the money, lobbyism and careerism largely out of the government anyway before it'd even get put to the floor.

I generally favor more liberal policies but I'll also be the first to admit that the ACA is a damn disaster of a halfway house that overall has probably done more harm than good. The pre-existing conditions aspect being probably the lone exception. I'd support debating/discussing ANY alternatives to it that actually work to lower the cost of healthcare. It's my opinion that you cannot have a direct healthcare system that is for profit and still be a moral entity. There are a laundry list of reasons why I think that, most of which come from direct experience and the inside information I have from friends and family who work in health administration. The doctor's job should be to provide the correct information and care, regardless of the financial aspect of the hospital. The insurance company has a job of paying as little as possible, as they're for profit. These are often conflicting goals and the hospital/care center gets stuck with trying to manage their expenses, often resulting in exorbitant fees and charges for basic things. It. Is. Broken.

It’s just what they are, Doc.

I was initially sorry about my rant, but became less so as the thread progressed. Discourse among differing opinions fascinates me.
You still didn't reply to my post, I'm looking forward to it :)

I really hope your just being your usual bigoted self and do not really intend to harm school children. If so, please don't. They never harmed you and aren't involved in any way with this discussion. And, I really thought Crocodile Dundee was funny, in fact, I'm gonna order it on Netflix today.

It is broken, no doubt. I'm actually a little jealous of these other countries if in fact they have leaders who can be trusted with this aspect of their life. I for one do not have any faith in our government to do this.

Leftist politicians everywhere are constructed from the same base bullshit. They all want to be dictators. Some are smoother and more refined, the rest are just as happy to use a hammer.

It was enlightening to talk to my work colleagues there about their experiences and what's going on in their country. It's frankly amazing that it happens like that when we can't even fathom it.

First thing we can all do is stop demonizing those with different political beliefs (I'm not talking about the cultists here, but rather the people who actually think). The people who really own the government want this continue. They continue to reap the benefits while we all get more upset, more stressed out, and less wealthy in all the ways one can define it.

The moment someone jumps to labels and name-calling, the chance to make things better vanishes. Constructive debate is the only way to make real progress.

You noticed I didn't say "liberal" politicians or we should abolish "democrats". I don't trust any of them, Our US government should only be involved in defense, maintaining free trade between the states, unifying weights and measures and making treaties with foreign governments Everything else can be done cheaper and better at the local level.

Oh I took note of that some time ago, thus the continued discussion. I also don't trust them. Unfortunately we're all in a position where we have to pick who we distrust the least. I just tend to favor those who are less owned by those they are expected to govern or regulate, i.e. NOT putting a oil and gas executive or prominent lobbyist in charge of the EPA, or a wall street thug in charge of the Treasury.

If you and I were given the opportunity to decide things like this, I would propose looking at every type of program or service that is in the interest of the population, and do analysis on where best said thing would be most effective. Some would certainly be better at the state or local level for efficiency and/or flexibility. Some may be better at the national level for interests of commonality between states, resources we all share, or simply economies of scale that allow for less overall costs, thus taxes.

No disagreement that the US government should be responsible for defense, foreign relations, border security and enforcement, and trade.

Interesting that you turn the debate into an emotional personal attack. If at some point you would like to have a respectful personal discussion, we can do so over skype (or some similar platform) and keep our personal business personal. Here, we can have a respectful public discussion--or none.
You believe the earth is round. This is why you're spinning your wheels and getting nowhere. I know these people, education and logic doesn't work for them.

None works for me. I don't have enough hours in the day to debate the merits vs the pitfalls of various political systems proven over and over to be deadly failures.

You should be embarrassed. It is interesting that if you look on latest lefty bullshit posting, they put Fascism on the right. It of course is not, but then a university education isn't what it was anymore either. The corruption of liberal art degee's by the echo chamber of lefty professors is astounding. But, AOC has a degree in economics and didn't even know how the American banking system worked, so there you go.

You owe an apology to @Hack

I disagree with the charts from a factual/historical standpoint. Fascism is considered an extreme right political philosophy.....
@Caballus, all you need to understand about those charts is the origin of them. Note the bottom right hand corner of each one.

There is an idiot corner of the internet, and many members here are regular attendees.
