I do. And "socialistic" trend scares me a lot.
Why is that?

College loans used to be administered by the government. The money came from tax-payers to assist students with their education. Students/borrowers used to pay all that money money back to the government/tax-payers with interest.

Then in the 80s the Regan administration turned collection over to the private sector selling the loans for pennies on the dollar and allowing student loans to be treated like consumer loans and subject to whatever interest rate the market likes. What do you think happened?

Those interest rates exploded. Banks got free money, tax-payers got screwed, students got screwed, universities were free to raise tuition, education became less affordable, poor got poorer; and the rich got richer.

I really don't think the people arguing against this fully understand democratic socialism more than the skin deep bullshit the mainstream media peddles who, might I add, have no interest in helping anyone besides themselves.

It's like crack to a great many unfortunately. Free stuff is always popular till you run out of money and have to start taking away every other freedom to feed it...then you wind up eating your pets and using your hand to wipe your ass.
That made me think of Big Daddy

Is this supposed to be some sort of Trump/Russia Russian/American politics ironic joke? I'm not sure what you're trying to get at.

The only people talking about socialism are the ones who don't even know what it is, lmao.

What? That means capitalism is succeeding. You really do not understand economics, lmao.

If you want examples of what life is really like under extreme capitalism, go look up just about every Central and West African nation, or almost any nation with a really low standard of living. Those are almost always nearest to pure free-market capitalist economies. See: minimal socialism/social democracy.

The US is the very best example of why socialism in moderation and social democracy works. I.E. taxes, infrastructure, education, regulations, security, etc etc...

Even the largest economy in the worth, China, has used socialism and social democracy to lift it's people's standard of living greatly, which is exactly why they've gone from being a shit hole to leading world power. See: Their belts and roads initiative which is a huge global issue for the US and its allies.

This is the biggest fraud of the democrats and the current left. Somehow they get people to believe that their lives will improve if the country moves left. It never ceases to amaze me when people who have beautiful big homes and new cars think that they are poor and they will get more money from "the rich" under a socialist system.

I can understand that most people would like to have more money, but be realistic. There's just not enough to go around when you start taxing heavily and giving the money to everyone who has a hand out. The middle class will be destroyed by higher taxes - not lifted up with redistributed wealth from the rich. There just aren't enough rich people and they don't have enough money for that to happen.

Democratic socialists policies have been great ways to improve the lives of the middle and lower class, see my above post, or do research on social policies and their effects rather than falling for the claptrap of biased media. No one here in a 'big home' or a 'new car' is acting like they're poor, I know I'm not, what middle and lower class want is a fair shake and less tax avoidance where they float the bill for the ultra wealthy and their loopholes and bankruptcies.

There most certainly is enough to go around to give everyone a better life if they choose to work for it, once again no one is asking for anything for free, if you provide you will be provided for. We live in the most developed nation in the world with one of the strongest economies who has one of the greatest wealth disparities in the world and you somehow believe it isn't realistic. https://www.brookings.edu/blog/up-f...-needs-a-tax-cut-trump-didnt-give-it-to-them/

The whole point of being a developed country is to be able to do more with less. Conservative-sim is cultural extreme capitalism. The success of unrestricted capitalism is measured by income disparity and the ultra wealthy minority parasitizing the world. This is why people ask for a balance of reigning in capitalism with regulations and governance while using its rewards to help the rest of the society. Whereas you take the success of a few as a win for everyone which is great when they are paying it forward rather than hoarding it to buy politics.

Close minded conservatives, which I am one when it comes to gun rights and very few social conservative values mostly national ideals, accept a world where they get scammed by millionaires and billionaires because it represents a vicarious aspirational manifestation of their core values, i.e. selfishness, ethical flexibility and social darwinism. A good example of this con would be utility companies who have no public accountability as they lobby for their best interest which do not align with the public.

The full conservative motto is basically - 'You have to be really dumb to trust the government. Instead I trust the company, whose stated primary purpose is to maximize profits at any cost.' They just happen to get caught committing fraud every few years, but don't worry the kick backs they got will go to paying for lobbyists. Thus we get corporate welfare where we privatize profits and socialize loses.

Human progress favors a society that works with each other, its sociocultural evolution and it has worked really well for the disenfranchised. It isn't socialism, its capitalism that better spreads the benefits of its productivity revolution.

Your property isn't yours anymore in Portland.

….Last month, Portland’s Planning and Sustainability Commission narrowly approved a change to its citywide design guidelines. These guidelines apply to new construction, including on private property. The revision requires that new projects “provide opportunities to rest and be welcome” according to local TV station KATU.....

That's a terrible solution and the city should take steps to address the problems rather than reassigning responsibilities and liabilities to private entities rather than public.

Without addressing the problem of homelessness you're just pissing in the wind. IMO, this is proof that they don't give a shit about the homeless.

Capitalism = Equal Opportunities
Socialism = Equal Outcomes

Pretty simple.
