Fascism found its voice with Italian journalist and war veteran Benito Mussolini beginning in 1922. Fascism is not a political system, such as Democracy or Socialism. It is a political ideology and movement. Fascists string together ideas from different sources to address momentary challenges.

The term Fascism comes from Italian word “Fascio” which translate to “a bundle.” In ancient times the national symbol of the Roman Empire was a bundle of wood and an ax. It signified unity and strength. Mussolini used the word ‘Fascio’ to describe his strength and express his goal to unify Italy. His concept of “unity” was to send his Blackshirts throughout Italy to terrorize or eliminate his political opponents.

key point:
Not a political system

Bernie or even the left progressive can't by definition be fascist because they are not in power! If they get in power and start calling the free press "enemies of the people," and telling over 10,000 lies and using specific media outlets to spread propaganda, we'll then maybe we'll have to change our mind about him, but we'll see.

I'm a student of history and I watch what's going on in the world plus I'm 60yo and I've learned one thing history continually repeats it's self because of human greed and lust for power. I'm I afraid hell no because I know there's no hope for the human race.

Sorry, I'm not following, but Im just a dumb lib. They seem like discrete implementations of government, not synonyms

If you look at the implementations of government that fit the definition of fascism, like those systems that Musolini, Stalin and Hitler are associated with, you will see that the government has a LOT of control over the people.

This by definition is left wing, not right wing. Right wing tries to reduce government authority and control. Left wing wants you to think that governments are warm and fuzzy and will make your life better. But in order for you to believe that governments will make your life better, you have to ignore history completely. Whenever governments get lots of power, people die. Not just a few people here and there. Lots of people. Typically millions.

So, if you do a little basic thinking you will realize that some sources are incorrectly defining fascism. The next step is to either figure out why this is happening or decide for yourself what you want to do with the information.

The bundle of sticks definition should make it easy for you to see that fascism = communism/socialism. All those government systems talk about helping the people but the reality is they are set up to hand far too much power to an individual that will strike down all opposition with deadly force.

My advice to you is for you to believe in the strength of the individual rather than believing you need to join a community/commune/gang of people and silence/destroy the opposition.

Yes - it's a puzzle why the US has our own versions of Pravda in the organized, big business press. My belief is that many of those huge news corporations enjoy the power they can have under an oppressive regime and that's why they are the enemies of the truth and freedom for the people. We are fortunate to have some media such as Fox that is less biased.

The colleges are run by and the students are taught by socialist. Each day those who where taught by the socialist are getting jobs and spreading their indoctrination to others and getting positions of leadership Those who don't go to college are being fed the socialist agenda on TV. Both are becoming willing to loose their freedom for "social equality" as are leaders are telling us will come. They are ripe for use as cannon fodder for what ever they who are in charge decide to do with them. Maybe we'll have a Cultural Revolution here in the USA. The possibilities are endless.

College is over rated. I assume from what you just said that you went. Yet you don't seem to have much knowledge. That's what I objected to with the college I graduated from. It seemed they were more interested in getting my money than in teaching me something.

On the job education is great for practical and useful knowledge.

Well guys, much has been said here and does not necessitate my response. But I’m a man of simplicity and think it serves us all well. I think it comes down to simply this, “Are you for bigger government or less?” “ Do you believe you should keep what you’ve earned, and if some is to be given to the government, how much?” That’s it.

I believe government has a role, it must be checked, at times restrained, others over thrown.
The United States of America has done more for its people and those of other countries than any other nation before it. The U.S. has had a good foundation from which to build, I’d caution anyone who seeks to make drastic changes.

This.

As a college graduate with an engineering degree, I couldn't agree more. I learned far more working as a temp engineer for my years while in college than I did in the actual college classes. Only a handful of courses were relevant and useful looking back.

If I had a kid, I'd steer him/her toward a tech school since there's a distinct shortage of those folks.....
