So why did Ford put a staggered setup with 19x9.5/255s on the front of the base Mach 1?

No idea about why they went staggered. I assume it's for max handling etc. as the Mustang is a performance platform! I've been dealing with staggered set-ups since 2000 when I bought my first AMG Benz. Been thru more money in tires than I can count! The first change I made to my HP MACh1 was to get rid of the Cup 2 tires. At the same time I came on here looking to see what people had done to go to a squared set-up. The OEM wheels IMHO were like wearing black socks with shorts and sandals....lol. I ended up buying a set of 19x10 HP replicas and I'm running 305/30/19 Cooper Zeons and have zero complaints! They're quiet....grip well and do well in the rain! I'm able to rotate tires for the first time in 20+ years and after 7500 miles I'm not 1/2 way thru the tread life!

It is one heck of a car for the money. And if you do some mods to the suspension (at least my car, originally a base $35K GT) it can hang on the track with cars worth double the money. I'm talking BMW M4s, Jag F-Types and stuff like that. The basic architecture is there. But the execution by Ford holds it back. From there, it just comes down to how fast the driver is. But this car is very capable. At mid to high speeds it has lot of grip with suspension and the right tires. I've done 1.2 or 1.3G on the track and I'm novice and slow lol. Fast guys can do 1.5 lateral G.

On my trip to Wyoming/Yellowstone I was surprised at how not uncomfortable it was (and my car is heavily modded with suspension).

Sorry to hear about your back but glad to hear you're holding it together. Nice to hear from another guy who actually drives their car and uses it like it should do! Keep it up, sir. I bet that Georgia drive was Hella fun.
Oh yeah, these GA foothill roads on a beautiful fall day are indescribable. Throw in track mode with the windows down and good Lord it should be against the law. Come to think of it, I guess it is…

Iā€˜ve also got a ā€˜20 GT convertible with AVE and she lives in track mode too and never goes out unless the top is down. Geez what a sound! I guess I’ve brainwashed my poor wife. We were somewhere in our civilian car yesterday when a very nice but normal last gen Mustang convertible passed us. My wife looked over and commented ā€œthat doesn’t sound as good as ours does it?ā€ I felt so proud, like I had done my job!

The right answer is - they did that because that what GT PPs had since 2015. Manufacturers are driven by one thing only - cost. And common parts lower the cost.

Originally staggered set up was for car to be understeer prone so people don't wipe out at every corner and go into the weeds.
Seems those engineers underestimated a Mustang owners ability to do just that LOL

Had a 2003 Terminator that was square from the factory with 275's. Seemed to handle fine,...

So will 275s on a 10ā€ wheel bolt right on and clear everything up front with no problems?

Yes they will, a 275/40 squared on 19x10's would be perfect.

LMR has copies of most of the popular S 550 wheel styles and they are flow formed and lighter than the factory cast wheel, also you can get them in a 19x10 square setup and you can get them with tires mounted too, but I would pass on the Nittos and get my own tires for the wheels. A popular size for a square setup is 285/35/19 and they fit great on a 19x10

Their SP2's are a copy of the PP2 wheels but are available in 19x10 and 19x11 and weigh a lot less than the real ford wheels
I was thinking about doing this 285/35/19 on my RTR Tech 7's but they are 9.5" wide. Tire Rack says this is the largest I can fit but will this be ok for track use?
Right now I have 275/40/19 all-seasons mounted on them for winter but I'd like to make them my summer setup since they are very light wheels.
Maybe I can take the All seasons off and throw them on the non-HP 9.5 & 10.5" wide stock wheels.

275 is the ideal size for 9.5ā€ wide wheels. You’ll lose a little feel with the 285’s but it wouldn’t be terrible

Check with the tire manufacturer and check their recommended wheel width. Some 275's can go as low as a 9" wheel and some 285's can go on a 9.5

When going from 255/40/19 front, 275/40/19 rear to a 275/40/19 square, what do you do about the .63 lift in the front from the taller front tire? I wouldn't want my car to sit any higher in front because the rake would look goofy in my opinion. I like that the front would scrape less though.

Sorry to be needy but guess I shoulda asked also about offset, if any on factory wheels. One of my ā€˜23 Machs has the base old school looking 5 spoke jobs and the other has the $450 optional magnetic painted ā€œ5Yā€ wheels. What offset do they have?

And just curious if anybody knows the bare wheel weight on these?

Here's mine, it looks fine.
