59 with a 15 V6 I bought used in 18. I wanted to change my daily driver to something more fun. I was choosing between the V6 and Ecoboost and didn't even consider the GT because of gas mileage and mistakenly thinking I would be OK with 300 horsepower. After joining this forum and going to local meets, etc., I have had some regrets about not getting a GT. I've done some mods (wheels, exhaust, suspension, Sync 3), but I'm working on convincing my wife I need that GT. :)
Given this thread has been resurrected, I'll mention that two months after posting this I traded the V6 for my '19 GT. Without much pushback from her.

Man, I swear, it's a weekly occurrence where someone at a gas station tells me "I love your car! I'd have one if the wife would let me."

I really haven't had it said to me much, but I believe it. My wife would have been fine if I had bought a GT from the beginning. But after buying the V6 and spending money on mods, etc. trading up for another car was a little tougher sell for awhile. :)

She never restricts me but was obviously involved with the purchase. I let her pick the color and everything else was ordered how I wanted it. I actually skipped some thing initially to lower the cost but she said "you better get what you want, I don't want to hear it later!" so it was a great experience. Sales guy was also super awesome, he's an enthusiast too with an 18 GT PP1.

That part of it makes sense. That's definitely why people recommend the GT so much, on here. Most people end up wanting it in the end lol.

Coming from a turbo 4 I was tired of the fast and furious sounds. The Coyote never gets old.

Haha awesome. That sounds like you two know each other well. It just depresses me when I hear the "if my wife would let me" bit. I don't wanna bag on anyone's relationship but that doesn't seem healthy. Obviously I don't know the full context (maybe finances are tight), but ya. My lady (not wife but we've been together for a while) got super excited when she found out I was thinking about buying a new Mustang GT and practically nagged me until I pulled the trigger.

Oh my first wife tried to be restrictive. That's why she's known as my first wife though. The was a life lesson right there for sure!

Got it all in one post! Fast and furious sounds LOL. I'll admit, I've heard some turbo it's that have sounded really cool, but those are far and away the exception. I learned to appreciate the v8 with my first mustang. I bought it as a v6 (1997 sn95). 18 year old ambition and a maxed credit card got me an old pushrod 302 from ebay (no joke haha) to swap in. After that I told myself I won't skimp on my next car. Do it right the first time.

And I'm glad you got it sorted out the second time! Honestly stories like that are why I'm hesitant to make the leap. Ah well. Maybe someday.

Picked mine up last year on my 42nd birthday.

I've been driving muscle cars since I was 26 when I bought my first one which was a 2002 Z28 with the six-speed manual.

I've always loved muscle cars and I have zero interest in Japanese or Euro trash

38 here. Previously owned a 1965 FB that I got when I was 16. Worked on it for over 20 years upgrading things. Sold it last year to buy my 2019 GT premium PP1. It's also a little faster than the 1988 Escort GT I had in high school 🤣
