I decided to test my 0-60 speed in my 2017 mustang GT manual earlier today and no matter how hard I shift or what RPM I set my launch control to, I cannot break lower than a 5.5 second 0-60. I spin a little in 1st but it should not bump my 0-60 down a whole second. Online it says my 0-60 should be around 4.5 seconds. The only performance mods I have are a Roush cold air intake and MAK Cat deletes. My IAT was around 80° F. I did recently install a dual 10 inch subwoofer box in my trunk. Could this be enough weight to bump my 0-60 down a whole second?

5.5 is pretty much the truth on the street in a manual. I can't get below 4.5 with an A10 and about the best tires you can put on a 20" wheel.

The 4.5 you're supposed to run is highly variable

Jack, The weight might but it's near the back of your car where you'd want to have any added weight. The spinning is affecting your times, but how much is a guess...

You don't have the Performance Pack.

A manual car is only as fast as the driver can slip the clutch and shift. If you shift slow, your time to 60 will be slow.

Most likely the 0-60 adverstised time was in an automatic with the help of an unlocked torque converter and launch control.

It’s dangerous to compare your times with magazine ones, they use stdized procedures, weather corrections, etc, at least C&D does. Try clicking your 30-60 or 60-100 and see how it compares to theirs. Minimizes the influence of shifting skill. Agree if your rear end is different than theirs it may have an influence (although your 6M base is probably lighter) but this way you’ll know your car is making all the power, it’s your technique that’s the primary factor.

I had a 15 GT PP1 and the best I could do was a 5.0 second. I do have a 19GT PP2 now and the best is a 4.8. Both times are on the street. The first thing you should try is lower the air pressure in the back tires. I do better with out the launch control. My 19 can go past 60 in 2nd gear and with the 15 I was not able to. Both cars have 373 gears.

With your cat delete do you have the car tuned? And by who?

Will do. It upsets me that my friend's stock auto 18 ecoboost runs 5.3's and beats me when we do 0-60's.

No tune. Tune recommended but I do not want to void my warranty. I have 3.31 gears so I also hit 60 in 2nd gear. Warranty expires this December so I'll wait until then or at least close to then to tune my car.

The no tune with cat delete I think would be stealing some HP. What’s your time In a 1/4 mile on the street?

If you're trying to beat your friend's auto with a manual you're fighting an uphill battle. As stated, magazine times are to be taken with a grain of salt. Not only do they use correction factors but almost all measure the 0-60 with a 5mph rollout. They also don't have any sympathy for the car they're testing and they'll do a dozen back to back runs absolutely beating on the cars. Lastly they're using clean and/or prepped surfaces, which you won't have on the street. What you are experiencing is very common for all cars. The more variables the further away from advertised times the car will be. So autos will be close, AWD cars even closer - but I have never seen a car actually match a published time. My buddy's 911 4S is almost half a second slower than Road and Tracks time and that is about the most consistent car outside of an EV that I've ever seen.

Is the 4.5 0-60 only for the performance pack?
If you mean C&D for 15-17 cars, they only tested PP cars, and got 0-60s of 4.3-4.5. One non-PP (auto) and also got 4.5, but that’s a quick shifting 6R80.

honestly, don’t get too hung up on actual 0-60. If your 30-100 or whatever is close, keeping all the issues in mind when comparing to magazine numbers, you’ve probably got the power. Use 0-60 times from C&D to roughly compare different cars that they tested, compared to yours that they tested. 0-60 is so influenced by off the line traction and # of shifts in a manual by 60 I don’t like it...to compare the “feel of power” I think the better measure is 1/4 mile trap speed.
