Ford quoted me $120 to take apart my 18s, take the tpms off, and put it back together.

Putting them on my 20s.

Since the 18s will be my winters, should I just buy new tpms? I see they're about $160 on american muscle (first google result). And that's not much more than $120...and then I wouldn't have that annoying error msg in the winter?

Thoughts?

edit: also, would these be a good substitude for some brand name ones? amazon has some for cheaper..https://www.amazon.com/F2GZ-1A189-P...8&qid=1487965453&sr=1-2&keywords=tpms+mustang

You can absolutely drive w/o them too...nothing at all happens outside of the dash light will illuminate and even then it takes a good 15-20 miles or more before it triggers.

Thanks all. Yeah I saw them too.

Ok I know this has been asked to death but I couldn't find the answer by searching.

How do I sync new tpms to my car? Only thing I've read so far is to take it to Ford. But I don't want to do that every time I switch summers/winters. Does that ebay one come with any way to do it?

No need to sync, they learn themselves. I also recommend genuine OEM as he ones I've linked on eBay. Trust me, not even Levittown can beat this price.

They sync themselves? How will new tpms know to work with my car without doing anything?

And if that's true, why are so many companies selling those remotes to sync your car, and other people have told me to go to the dealer. Just a huge rip off?

Yes OEM ones are self learning. The tool companies sell are a scam.

The tool isn't a scam, it's just not needed 99% of the time. Plenty of people have had their tpms not sync automatically and need the tool. Usually it's easier just to have your dealership do it though.

I was told my winter wheels have TPMS but they don't automatically sync like people claim they should.
