Hello ladies and gents, it is not 6G GT500 but figure some of you fans will enjoy this build in process. This is a friends/clients car, a little behind the scenes so that anyone interested can see what’s involved in a wide body kit.

Those where some of the initials after the fiberglass work, then it got its first coat of epoxy high build primer and hours and hours of body work and line work to make everything match the gaps and door fender qtr lines

And for any divas out there this is our primer final prep booth before going in our nice booth. We don’t spray primer in it! Here’s some of the first body work matched up fender and doors, now waiting on new brackets to install bumpers to then match fenders and atr to bumper

Looks like its gonna turn out nice. I hate those bolted on tacky wide bodies, this is how it's done. What's the cost for something like this?
Shelby charges give or take$25k+ the actual fiberglass pieces are 6-7k, ok now in front of the computer. Yeah its going to come out really nice, we are going to have this car as display as well as my GT500 and Mach 1 with the other exotics we do. Owner specializes in exotics and I Manage and help do everything else. I am very particular so I hope my attention will show in the final product, I come from Autobody and Machining backgrounds.

I was going give you a thumbs up, but instead will reply with agree 100%. I'm not a fan of bolt on wide bodies either and seeing the rivets looks unfinished and just lazy to me.

I'm sure it will look great when done. I always liked the widebody look on most cars. To go thru that much trouble to make it a wide body, they must really really want a widebody lol.

How is the rear quarter done? Is the original quarter cut out and the new glued on In an overlay fashion or is it butted. Old p&b guy here, absolutely love the smell of fiberglass. Brings back lots of good memories. Very cool.

no, the fiberglass is sent cut to fit and it is an overlay, the fiberglass is than panel bonded and fiberglassed into the metal for a seamless look. Obviously a lot more to it just the short version.

Edit response: sorry hate typing on the phone, Shelby sends it with over 2 inch of extra fiberglass so that you can trim back and make it fit, It actually fit pretty darn well. Our team here loves doing the custom stuff gives them a break from the insurance type work. We do this with no time frame as we take these in with at our discretion since insurance work is what pays the bills. We plan to finish installing bumpers this week and come in on the weekend to finish the panel to bumper finish, so we can seal one last time before painting. Since your a P&B guy you appraciate the headache lol we are even going to wet color sand, we want it FLAT FLAT.

Thanks for the response. My old shop I did the same thing. Lots of insurance but about a quarter was custom leaning more toward the custom paint side. Didn't do any restoration, was a loser for me for sure. I completely understand the paint side. My go to was 2-3 coats of clear, wet sand the car with 600, and reclear. I actually miss the custom and paint side. Be cool to see the pics as you guys proceed.
